Get your headsets and microphones ready Winners Circle

We have been invited for the second time onto Aggroed's show where he will interview us - Date and time of the radio show is at 9 pm EDT on Sunday Jun 10 - that is Eastern Daylight Time.  Check your local time on google - for me its 4am on the Monday morning 

This is just a heads up - we will explain a bit more in our posts

Wow, contestants - this competition is getting more exciting by the day and it's a good thing that we have a little break coming up to refresh ourselves.

@chefsteve, @offoodandart and @pandamama will be meeting on Skype to get our next calendar ready for you - with more exciting themes and ideas and we will be posting these up before the break to get you all fired up and prepared for a new season.

Second place in the Winner's Circle is!…
Smoked BBQ Chicken Wings by @loveself

Your smoked wings with Jamaican jerk spices was incredible! The BBQ sauce you made with mango, pineapple and chillies was the perfect balance to the wings with sweet, sour and spicy flavours. 

Third place in the Winner's Circle is!…
Chicken, Leek & Mushroom Pizza Braai Pie by @lizelle who made a very unusual dish for the BBQ contest.  Although she admits to loving the grilled meat aspect of a barbecue she gave us a most interesting recipe.

Your chicken, leek and mushroom pizza Braai pie was so creative. We have never seen something like this before and were so impressed with your entry. 
Lizelle wrote in her post "Durban Tourism's slogan Durban, the warmest place to be in Winter certainly is true. We have lovely sunny days and cool evenings; occasionally have hail storms but never see snow.
So even in the midst of Winter, we can have a Braai - or Barbeque - as it's called in the rest of the English speaking world.
Our little braai fire has been lit and all will gather closer, like moths drawn to a flame :)"
Lizelle went on to tell us how a typical barbecue goes in South Africa - very amusing and very true - some comment, however, said things were similar in other parts of the world.
Pandamama, however, tells of a typical barbecue in Cyprus where the guests all wait to be served and don't enjoy the fellowship around the fire.   She is going to a "South African" barbecue in the mountains in Cyprus today and we look forward to her post telling us all about it.


Our winner this week in the general section was a newcomer to the competition, @carolynstahl
 with her Roasted Cauliflower With Eastern Spiced Barbecue Sauce And Grilled Eggplant Tomato Salad recipe - quite a mouthful (excuse the pun)
Chefsteve had this to say "Your grilled and glazed cauliflower skewers over couscous with tahini sauce and fresh herbs was such an impressive dish. The grilled eggplant and tomato salad went so well with the skewers too. The barbecue sauce with Eastern mediterranean spices really added a nice savory taste to the cauliflower"

2nd place went to another newcomer Satay Chicken with Lemongrass by @nancylee
ChefSteve had this to say  "Your chicken satay on a lemongrass skewer was amazing! The satay had such savory flavors from the curry and oyster sauce. Then the dish was balanced with a sweet and spicy sauce."

ChefSteve commented - Great entry Chef! Your Creole skewers with andouille, shrimp and vegetables looked so good! We really liked the grilled watermelon that you served with it.
