## It seems there is a shortage of crows.

## I know there was a power outage in China that caused a lot of factories to shut down.
Thing is, these are *American Crows.*
*Corvus brachyrhynchos*

# *Maybe there's something they're not telling us.*

## Is it the labor shortage? The supply shortage?
Are they just not able to assemble new crows until they can get who and what they need??

## I've heard people have started hoarding food.

Now for the real story behind the goth gang:

![DSC_1137.JPG](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/corvidae/23wqnntCCVRoMuFxLhFB383vRuw9VtWeXbj3mJvQTo6q4Ji3GT4f1esTrqQ2euaxTCZyC.JPG)
Most of these crows are what I call "tweens." They are young crows that were fledglings earlier in the year. Crow and raven young often form what people refer to as juvenile gangs (maybe other corvids do it, too, I'm not sure) in the time between fledgling life and helping parent with the nests in the following spring. From my observations of the American Crows in Portland, I am more inclined to think of it as a school, as there are adults present barking out orders.
I used the tween gang as an opportunity to get some medication into some crows who were in need (per the advice and guidance of a wildlife rehabber). Quite a few of the young had parasites. The kids were more than willing to come down for a free meal. What kid wouldn't be?
I took photos to see who was eating the medicated food. I had specific crows that I was hoping would get their second dose. At least one of them did, which is the one coming in for a landing in the image above.
His name is Tarot. He is one of the [Parkers.](https://peakd.com/hive-142159/@corvidae/meet-the-parkers)

And, contrary to what this post might have you believe, there is currently no shortage of crows in Portland.
