"So how do you think the new trial will go?" "Let's see. Last time that court system got it wrong. And the time before that, I think they were just trying to make more money off of me. I'm not surprised that they would try to do the same thing again." The two men were sitting together in one of the public areas. The new trial was coming up soon, and the faces of judges and other higher ups was never an easy thing. And really, the verdict had been mostly proven wrong before. "Yeah, well. I just figured that since we're paying them so much, that we got to make sure that they do what they're supposed to do. Plus, we got to hire a new law firm too. It's not like a lot of lawyers want to take on a case like this, you know?" "Nah, I don't know, they just have to be able to do it, right? Pay them enough and you're good to go? It's not like a hard case or anything." "Maybe. But I just think that we got to make sure. Just get the best lawyer team out there. As much as it costs, I don't care." "Yeah, well. You're the boss. I'll go check those out with you. Not that I'm going to agree that what you say will make all that much of a difference. But we still have to do it." The two men continued to talk, as they did most days. The two men were roommates, sharing an apartment. Both were good, solid citizens, and at least paid their taxes on time. Both men were also wealthy, and often hired worker for pay, to keep up appearances. The men were using the rooms on the upper floors that they paid for, yet rarely used. As the men were friends, they worked together, and really never needed to have that much more space. Their company offered a lot of job positions, and the men worked together a lot. Their jobs were rarely with the actual business itself, but more with creative ideal business ventures. As competition in business was fierce, it was smart to work with a partner instead of going it alone. This way they would make more profits this way, without the partner losing money. Would you want someone else to make all the money while they took all the risks? The two men have both been businessmen, and it showed. The way that they spoke and behaved with all others was always the same. They were polite, but also could have some fun at times. While they never overreacted, they also did not take anything very serious. The two men were more often seen laughing and conversing, then they were in courtroom. The only real time the men were in trial was when someone was suing their company. And even then, the trial was always a bit of a joke. First off, because none of the workers really worked on the company (it was own by the philanthropic founder). And secondly, because it would be more of a moral battle. Even if the worker was indeed underpaid, and needed to get the extra money, it would be "the company's duty" to pay for them. However, just because the goals of the company were very noble, this did not mean that the company was not going to fight hard when sued. While it could not stand against good and just laws in court, it was not going to do such things on the streets. The trouble with this system was that some workers worked there, while others were "day laborers," and would work only on a job for which they were contracted. So when people found out that they were hired for doing a specific job, and the workers were paid for that job, it was not a good thing. While it was not illegal, and seemed just, it was not right. The two men stopped talking, as they saw another man coming towards them. This other man was a bit different than the two men. He spoke from his beautiful, tall and slim frame. He was also dressed elegantly. While he wore a nice suit, it was the kind that these two men would not buy. Instead of having a tailored suit, all of the details were polished and seemed to be made. It was a suit that was made, not bought. It was very plain design, even when compared to the two men, and had shiny, polished leather shoes, instead of fabric. "Oh, hey, James. How are you doing?" "I'm fine. I'm here to pick you up for the case." "Oh, cool. Thanks. So how does it look?" "The case? "No, the weather." "Well, it's nice, but not hot. It still looks rainy. But it's just so humid right now. "Shit. I'll ask the guys out in the field tomorrow to get to work on that. I'll need to call them up, and give them some time to do it. It's not that hard, right?" "Well it's better to do it now than later. Don't you agree? "I… I guess…" "...More than a guess, if…" "… I'll tell them to get on it. Have them start on it this week." The three talked more, their conversation almost as interesting as watching paint dry. "So, James. What do you want to do? Catch a movie or go to dinner? Or maybe go to a museum. I have all the time in the world, and all of the energy too. As much as people might joke about this case, I know it's not a joke. There's always work to be done, so I'm always ready to do my share. And I'm up to doing more." "Yeah, but I really need to just spend some time with Viktor. Or at least get away." "Oh, yeah, you're right. We should do that. Really. Who knows when we'll have time to do something like that again. Maybe it will give us time to do more things. Things that you usually want to do, but can't because of the case." The men talked some more, but even the small talk was getting pointless. The two men were running out of things to talk about. Viktor was fidgety, while James was constantly looking at his phone. There were also some moments of silence, in a way that indicated they should be talking more.
[Src 1](https://www.relevantmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Grace_2.jpg)
