Growing Potatoes In Winter With This 'Contraption'
Hey everyone, so I guess the big question is, will this work? Potatoes are summer plants, I have grown many vegetables before potatoes, to date, are not one of them. What I know about growing them is rather limited but been the practical person I am and if my 'calculations are right' this should work a dream?

The thinking was to make a 'hybrid' setup, half hot house half terrarium and so far it seemed to have worked.

I started off by digging a nice big hole around 800cms deep and filling it up with compost.. The compost that my landlord makes comprises mostly of wood shavings, straw and Horse shit. LOL yes the 'struggle' is real. This is generally considered really good compost so I am really holding thumbs.

The horse manure we get from the neighbour free of charge who has a few Horses and Donkey's, lucky us :) Simply mixed into wood shaving and straw, leave for a few months to decompose, and you have the most amazing compost ever.

From this angle you can see the raised side on the left, when it rains and if it does, been Winter the water should flow off well to the right. My epic vegetable garden in the backdrop, how nice it would be if this works and if so, I can add potatoes to the fray?

I normally buy all my vegetable seeds from www.livingseeds.co.za incredible selection of heirloom seeds, however these potatoes I purchased at my local retailer, left in the cupboard for two weeks and as they began to sprout, I put them in the soil!

After digging the hole I built up the one side to make a slope for the plastic to enable the water to drain off as well as for the vegetation inside to get maximum sun exposure.

This 'design' is made in such a manner that as the plants grow I will simply fill in the hole and build up the sides to enable a maximum crop come Spring, if it all works that is, but based on the 'theory' it may just! The big idea is purely to increase heat and keep the frost off thus 'fooling' the spuds into thinking the time to grow is now!

The vegetable garden is coming on so incredibly well I wish I started this last Spring, none the less I shall keep you all updated with progress.

Have an incredible week further and with the recent Bitcoin bullrun, why not?

Cheer$;)
