To be considered an adult in my country, you have to be at least, 18 years of age. In some other countries, it's 16 and maybe due to my environment, I find it absurd in a way because I feel a 16 year old is still a child. 18 feels more okay to me, and I think it is because of the way it is naturally stuck in my age; I can't think of another suitable age. However, at the end of the day, I also do not agree that a particular age should be made the 'ideal adult age'. In my opinion, those ages are decided to give people a sense of responsibility, so let's just see it as a real meant to be made to put people in check in one way or the other. It is alternatively called a 'legal age' for a reason. 


It means that's the age where you start to be held accountable for your actions and won't really be able to hide under the umbrella of your parents or guardian. It is believed that at a set age, you should have at least identified your rights from wrongs and act accordingly. They also believe one should have grown to the level of making personal decisions and choices of one's accord. However, I don't think a particular age should be set for these things because people grow at different paces. I guess it had to be generalized to maintain orderliness, that's somehow understandable.


I also think that lebelling a particular age as an ideal adult age makes some capable people miss out on some opportunities. For instance, there are competitions where there will be age restrictions for the participants and that's not fair. **"Only ages 18 and above can participate"**. Why? What if a 15 year old has the ability to do it efficiently? He/She will miss out on the opportunity just because of their age. 


One can easily refer to a person as an adult because of their age, but it doesn't determine their level of maturity at all. When talking about the level of maturity, it is way beyond age and simply being an adult. Being an adult anr being mature is completely different. Being an adult naturally comes with some responsibilities, so I will not say that is what makes a person fully mature. Being mature is a combination of physical, psychological and emotional maturity. 
 
> **Does age really matter when it comes to maturity?**


Age does not matter when it comes to how mature a person is, or can be, although it might be a factor in many cases. In some other cases, it doesn't even get to be a factor at all, because I have actually seen where young people handle things better than some adults. I think maturity is when your mind is fully developed, you make good decisions, you relate people in the right way, you handle things in a responsible manner, and you have a better understanding about life in general. Wise people are mostly considered as matured because of the way they view people and the world in general.
