Hello everyone

A few weeks ago i wrote about the short sightedness of the South African government wanting to put taxes on renewable energy. Well today is a prime example. The substation that supplies electricity to the south of Johannesburg had a fire and therefore there is no electricity.

What do you do over a weekend when you have no power. Your plans change quite dramatically. We are too reliant on the comforts of power and the internet etc. I see the government here now wants to tax renewable energy and the reason behind it is that when the house with solar panels doesn't have enough power due to cloudy conditions etc you have to use the main grid. I think it should be the opposite as you are helping them by not relying on them. Personally I think it is a cover story to make extra money. They are trying to stop the population from being self sufficient. Today I could of been one of the few with power in my area and the day would have been totally different. Who knows when it will come back as they have been known to lie. Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow or perhaps Tuesday. Some businesses in the area have generators so they can continue but that is also going to be taxed as you have to register them. Greedy and stupid as there is only so much blood that you can draw before enough is enough. The government are raping the people of their hard earned money and there is only so much one can take before they call it quits.
