When treading the post I though the language barrier may be the main reason for this and also possibly having a GP you know and knows you. My GP here makes me have blood tests regularly and makes me do things I probably wouldn't normally do otherwise. The way of life over there seems more laid back and will possibly mean you will suffer these "events" much earlier in life than if you were elsewhere.
