I was pleased to find my old copy of this crochet magazine at home:

You can see why I bought it.  It had a pattern for an alpaca on the cover which I haven’t made yet.  Incidentally the magazine was second hand from a charity shop so I didn’t get the ‘free gift’  (that big button).

There were lots of interesting patterns to choose from but as it’s seasonal  I settled for this very simple snowflake.  Now there's a weather warning for snow in place so it's even more relevant to us.

Below I briefly show you how I made it.

I followed the instructions closely and, as usual, I felt tempted to change as I went along but resisted it.   Clearly though I chose the wrong yarn.    The shape of the snowflake doesn’t show that well because the yarn is too thick for it - I chose it because it was shiny.  

If I made this snowflake again I would make a slightly longer chain at number 2 above to accommodate the stitches at number 3 better.   The other option is to choose a finer yarn or thread.

I've only made one snowflake so far  but got to play with the googly eyes once more :D

I nearly posted this 'creation' on Tuesday but felt it was too similar to @marblely's [wonderful star](https://steemit.com/needleworkmonday/@marblely/needleworkmonday-crochet-star) so I waited a bit to share mine.
