**INTRODUCTION**

Getting involved in @timcliff’s Steem Social Media Blast Day seemed like a natural move for me, I’ve been “operating” in the general domain of the #promo-steem community since Jan 2018 and became a community approved @steem-ambassador to curate on that #tag later that quarter.

I liked the idea that there was a clear focus on Blast Day for targeting investors on 3rd September and I was also interested in how we could attract web and app developers. I started with a plan to write two articles one aimed at each of these archetypes; investors and developers.

I ran out of time, and decided to stick to the brief, and so I wrote just one article, this one here:

Writing the article was a bit of an epic job over the weekend and my intention was to then promote both this and Tim’s epic [article](https://steemit.com/steem/@timcliff/it-s-time-to-start-paying-attention-to-steem) to Social Media on the 3 September – Blast Day.

**RESULTS**

Some really interesting results and pleased with both the impression and the engagements, which include likes and click throughs:

I am very pleased with 27 new and interesting followers on twitter, and in some of the short conversations which took place on my tweets and in the places where I identified the relevance of sharing the relevant links.

**CONCLUSION & LESSONS LEARNED**

I am absolutely certain the event was a success in raising the awareness of the Steem blockchain and I applaud Tim for taking the lead in organising the day. I must say Tim’s article is a huge investment and is something worth linking back to for several months. I hope people feel the same about my article above too.

I saw a new account get created on SSMBD with 11,500 STEEM invested immediately and within the first few minutes of account creation the first activities on the account were to resteem both mine and Tim’s articles about showcasing the features of the Steem blockchain. It’s putting two and two together – but could this have been a new account as a result of SSMBD.

**Some learnings for next time:**

- Schedule more tweets to my own following

- Work within teams in a more planned fashion

- Spend more time finding places to drop the links
