He has created some of the most innovative projects we have seen in the technical world, let alone blockchain. Dan, I'm all in.

Link

The three main projects by Dan that I would like to highlight are Steemit, Bitshares, EOS.

Steemit - Steem $0.827751

Steemit is a social network based on the Graphene network designed to reward curators and publishers. These curators and publishers are rewarded with Steem and Steem Backed Dollars. These tokens are known as Smart Media Tokens (SMT) and are tradeable for a various amount of cryptocurrency.

Smart Media Tokens

Smart Media tokens, specifically Steem are tokens native to a social network which use a "Proof of Brain" or Proof of Work consensus mechanism to reward the users. Meaning that you most likely won't receive any Steem or Steem Backed Dollars if you don't create good content for others to enjoy. Smart Media Tokens were created to battle the struggle of earning an income as an online content creator. You can learn more about smart media tokens on the Steem website.

Decentralized Applications

The beauty of Steemit is that other individuals can create applications to make the ecosystem more efficient and enjoyable by all. There is the decentralized crypto exchange Blocktrades, Dtube the decentralized Youtube, notifications applications and much more.

Why Steemit is powerful

Steemit is the first social network of its kind to tackle a lot of key problems that we see on the internet. Steemit gives authors and content creators a chance to make a living online buy earning its SMTs (Steem and SBD). It also removes the issue of censorship. Steemit is owned by its users, therefore no topic can be censored by a corporation or any other entity, that goes for Dtube as well which may become a true competitor to Youtube on the blockchain.

Bitshares - BTS $0.100755

Bitshares is my favorite platform and token on the blockchain at this point and time. Bitshares is a decentralized exchange for digital crypto assets. You can trade any cryptocurrency and the stable coins that are provided on the Bitshares network. These stable coins represent the value of the dollar, gold, silver, oil and many more. The most powerful part of Bitshares, I believe, is the fact that users (companies too) can issue their own assets. This tool could change the world of exchanges, and could become the first decentralized stock exchange.

Link

Why decentralized exchanges are important

Centralized exchanges like Coinbase, Binance, and even the New York Stock Exchange create risks and imbalances of the market ecosystem.

The big risk of these exchanges is that all capital used in the exchange is all centralized into one location. Meaning if a team of hackers had the know-how to hack any of these exchanges, they could walk away with a large loot. Decentralized exchanges virtually eliminate the threat and economic viability of a hacker coming in and stealing your capital. Each account that trades on Bitshares is its own separate wallet, meaning there is no connection to the other wallets like there would be on Binance.

The imbalance in centralized exchanges is what is known by many as front running. Front running is the act of hosting a computer closer to the exchange than anyone else so that the owners can see the orders coming in before they are processed, and manipulating price with their supply before the buy or sell is achieved. So if a user tried to buy a large market order of Apple stock on the NYSE at $210, the front runner could push the price up to $212 and make a profit off of that user. By the way, this all takes place in a matter of milliseconds. Decentralized exchanges tackle these important issues in the markets for tradeable assets.

Stable Coins

Stable coins provide tremendous value to the crypto space. A stable coin is essentially a crypto that is pegged to the value of a real-life asset. So, this coin could be permanently pegged at one dollar, one ounce of gold or silver, and even oil. This helps users escape the volatility of the crypto market, and also keep their capital value somewhere else than the banking system.

Link

User-Issued Assets

User-Issued assets may be one of the most powerful tools created on the blockchain yet. Users on the Bitshares network can create shares representing stake in a company, voting power, or even IOUs (Debt Notes) for goods, services or other types of value. The reason this is powerful, is simultaneously while the cryptocurrency space is blowing up, the private equity market is becoming more accessible to investors. I will talk more about private equity and Bitshares in a separate article.

Learn more on the Bitshares website.

Link

EOS - EOS $5.40

Ah yes, EOS. Known as the "Ethereum Killer" EOS is a blockchain protocol powered by the Proof of Stake Coin EOS. This protocol does what a computing system would do and provde processing power. Each coin represents an amount of processing power on the network. EOS tackles the scaling and fee issues in the Ethereum blockchain. EOS is faster, more efficient, and essentially free when compared to Ethereum.

Smart Contracts

The main utility of EOS is acting as a decentralized platform where users can create smart contracts. Without being too long winded, smart contracts essentially allow you to make a contract with someone that can be fulfilled automatically through blockchain.

Link

So let's say you make a bet with someone on a horse race. If horse A wins, you win 10 EOS. If horse B wins, you owe the other person 15 EOS. In a regular contract, you would have the risk of that contract not being fulfilled by the other person. He could skip town or just never pay you. With a smart contract, your wallets would be connected, and in theory connected to a blockchain system that reports horse race results. With EOS, this bet would be fulfilled automatically.

Aside from horse races, the power of smart contracts can immensely improve the efficiency and accountability of business, government, and people.

The most used blockchains

Learn more at block'tivity

With all that Dan has accomplished, the tokens and coins that are linked to his creations are currently the most used blockchain protocols.

Steem, Bitshares, and EOS account for 79.5% of blockchain activity.

All of these creations provide so much value yet are still so cheap (In my opinion). I will continue to add Steem, EOS, and BTS to my portfolio. This is not because I think prices will do well in the near term, but because I believe in the power of all of these technologies.

The thing about Dan is that he's not the most charismatic guy in the world, but he's a damn genius! He gets it done. There's no hype, no bull****, just straight work results, and technology that works.

I'm glad to have seen the light.

Let's give it up for Dan Larimer!

Link

Thanks for stopping by!

Link

Until Next Time

Recent Articles:

BTC is punking you
