My sister-in-law just decided to celebrate her job promotion as a principal in their school and yes indeed it was a reason to be happy and celebrate because of the salary increase and maybe less work perhaps because she will no longer maybe do some lesson plans which are so back-breaking and tedious to do. I had my only meal yesterday with these kinds of foods, I was excited to eat some Maki, those nice rolls of premium rice with some delicious fillings in it, quite tasty but I missed the "California Maki" or maybe it wasn't available and the "Wasabi" which is really a terror to the mouth but pleasant in its own way, probably they didn't include it in their order because of its rather strong taste. On my plat was some lettuce leaves, very good and so healthy to eat. It is a nice addition to any spicy meals as it neutralizes the heat of the "Kimchi" which I am also excited to try as it was the second time that I had it. The forst time that I had some was when I bought a little attractive bottle of it. What I only remember was its biting heat of the chili pepper and the saltiness, after that I never had tried it again. The local contender for the kimchi was the pickled shredded flesh of a raw papaya with some some small red onions, crushed garlic, carrots, black pepper, vinegar, and lots of sugar which is not served everyday and only those that wants it. It is pickled so it has no beneficial good bacteria that I was longing from the Kimchi. The kimchi taste is quite hard to build an acquired taste of. It is sour which is good, a sign of fermentation and has a good saltiness which doesn't make you squirm about its pleasant salinity. The thing is that it is quite hot because of the chili powder in it but still great as a side dish and will really make you eat more. The Kimchi I think must be adopted by my fellow countrymen because it is relatively easy to make plus maybe you can use other local variants rather than the lettuce. The reason is that it will make your gits healthy as it contains good bacteria that will help you assimilate the nutrients from your food. The idea in the intake of the good bacteria in your guts is that when it eats your food and it dies eventually it will release the nutrients that it has from its body which then absorbed by your intestines. So it is great to have it with some vegetables for that matter. Anyway my plate also includes fish cakes, the rectangular ones, a baby potato which I thought waa a head of a button mushroom at first, some pickled cucumber slices, and some pork slices, tastes like an unsmoked bacon but yummy and filling. I finished it off with some "Yakult" lactobacilli drink, I just sipped it slowly like a baby feeidng from a feeding bottle so that i can taste its delicious yummyness for a longer time. I didn't finished the meat because it is just too much for me, I told my mother to set it aside to be eaten with some leftover makis later if I have the urge to eat.
