We are most of us involved in the blockchain and we are trading cryptocurrencies these days, but we don't know in what kind of category of investors we are fitting in. Based on our activity, we are one or the other: day traders or swing traders. Regardless of which one, we all aim to make profit, but that is going to happen either on a short term or rather on a long term. This is where the difference is made and also the specific of one or the other takes place. To keep the explanation simple, I will just present the PROS and CONS of each type and let you discover which one suits you better. DAY TRADING: - Trades are made in short hours intervals, take loss or profit - Capitalization is made using small price movements - Trading is focused and becomes specialized - Sensitive to incoming news and announcements - No risk overnight SWING TRADING: - Trades are made in long intervals taking days to weeks - Capital is increased more slowly as it requires bigger price movements - Trading is more relaxed - Less sensitive to new and announcements as it has time to recover - Overnight risk is present due to the duration Beside the presented characteristics we should have in mind that the day trader mostly has as an objective to make a living from this activity, thus he achieves this from smaller price movements and a big amount of transactions. They follow trends, technical overview, reach in consequence and do not keep positions from one day to the other which would block their funds. The swing traders on the other side think of their investment on a mid to long term and is not focused on a full-time activity from this. This allows him to hold positions over a long period of time, have the market bounce back from bad conditions and ensure that mostly in the end he will get a decent profit from it. Now, which kind of a cryptocurrency traders depends on each of us, of the job we are having in our lives and also on the time that is left for trading. What kind of trader are you and did it suit you well until now?
