Futebol Clube do Porto has been going through one of the most demanding periods in recent times, which evidently took place after the exit of Sérgio Conceição and Pinto da Costa. To really understand the crisis, one should go back and retrace the path that led to this.

Sérgio Conceição Era: The Miracle of Overcoming

Between the years 2017 and 2024, the great contrasts prevailed for FC Porto, led by Sérgio Conceição. Any attempt to rebuild the club would be an impossible and unsustainable task without financial restructuring, which is an urgent necessity.

Rigorous Cost Containment: From player and coaching staff salaries to operating expenses, a thorough examination of the whole cost structure is urgently needed. Every penny must be used, and every expense justified, since this is the only approach to see everything.
Debt renegotiation and sustainable financing models: Since banks rejected to lend money last time, it is imperative to reorganize the debt and investigate fresh financing models that do not depend solely on big and erratic player sales or on banks. By issuing bonds with higher interest rates, Porto had to attempt to restructure its debts.

Stability in the Sports Structure: Constantly changing coaches and components in the sports structure cause havoc in putting together a project. It is essential to create stability and allow time for projects to grow and develop, even though they do not initially produce results.

However, they owe it to themselves and the FC Porto badge, to leave it all on the field; however, there is a requirement that has always existed at Porto, which is to leave everything out there to defend and dignify the club and the city of Porto. 

FC Porto is steeped in glorious history and unparalleled fan passion. Reversing this situation is not going to be easy; there will need to be a number of sacrifices, difficult decisions and, most importantly, a shared vision of the future that will bring the club where it should be back in the national and European competitions. It will be long and challenging to reach that destination, however, with everyone's commitment, the Dragão can, and must, roar loudly again.
