What I really think / feel about fortune-telling.
Here's an actual photo of my hand doing a shadow play of a dog... hmm what's the point? Nothing :D

All I want to show are my palm lines.

Would you like to read my fortune?

Let me go straight to my answer; I think that it isn't psychic... in other words, I don't believe any of it.

It was in Singapore that I experience my first & last "fortune telling". The majority of people in Singapore are Chinese and they brought with them their fortune-telling practice. I was traveling with my wife back then and we stumbled into a place called Bugis district where there is every kind of fortune-telling technique that I know of. My wife convinced me to give it a try since she's a big believer in it. We went to one of the fortune-tellers who practices the Palm Reading technique because it was the cheapest kind.

The fortune-teller is so friendly and very welcoming and so I decided to give it a try. So, I gave him my hand and open my palm. Almost immediately he started mapping the lines on my palm and gave me the most bizarre things about my future. He said that I will become successful and wealthy. He also mentioned something about my career which will bring me good fortune.

At that moment, I already felt uncomfortable because everything that he is saying is about being wealthy & healthy. The typical things that anyone would want to hear. It didn't feel real to me. But I don't want to embarrass the fortune-teller and so I just played along with him. At the end of the session, I thanked the guy and we moved on.

Afterward, I told my wife that the fortune-teller is bogus and we just wasted our time and money with it.

My wife frowned at me because she was disappointed with what I said. And he she said, "whatever the man said about your fortune, you are still in control of your destiny. Whether you become wealthy or not, you should be responsible for your success or failure in life."

What she told me struck me for a few seconds and at that moment I realized that whatever the fortune-teller told me about me doesn't really reflect my personality, who I want to be, and what I wanted to achieve in life.

Regardless of whether the fortune-teller is a real psychic or a fraud, what matters is the feeling that you get while in the process of fortune-telling.

Does it make you happy?

Does it make you feel motivated into reaching goals in life?

Does it make you look forward to your future?

Does it really matter if the fortune-teller is bogus if he made you feel good about yourself and get you to be optimistic about your future?

### What if you took the prediction to heart and made yourself work hard which in turn made you successful in life? Then that's a prophecy turned into reality!
