The Local Coin Shop, in my neighborhood, keeps me entertained. These beauties were available, for $11 (USD), each. US Silver Half-Dollars carry a slight premium, over US Silver Dimes & Quarter-Dollars.

Apparently, these US Commemorative Silver Half-Dollars were being sold as novelties, in 1893, at the World's Columbian Exposition, in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

After a Bank Panic, an economic depression started, at around, the same time. Because of the hard times, I believe the people started spending them, into circulation.
