Lessons Learned Photographing From The Middle Of A Creek
I visited an area of Patapsco Valley State Park that I haven’t hiked or photographed in many years, looking for new waterfalls and woodland scenes worth shooting. I didn’t find any waterfalls in this area of the park, but I did find some sections of Soapstone Creek flowing down to the Patapsco that had some nice riffles that I thought might look good with a long exposure.

I recently bought some new waterproof boots and a tripod, which came in handy as I set up the shot from the middle of this creek. With the tripod sitting in flowing water it is critical to ensure it is firmly set so that the moving water doesn’t create blur from a shifting tripod.

It is also important to keep your butt out of the water as you squat down in the the creek to get those low perspective shots. Lesson learned. 😉
