In January of 2017, at the first [Rare Art Festival](https://raredigitalartfestival.splashthat.com/), we met our friend Jason Bailey. An art historian, Jason is not only extremely knowledgeable about everything you ever needed to know about the history of art; he is also a self-described art nerd, who is "building the world's largest analytical database of known works across our most important artists".

Jason was one of the first people to pay serious attention to the field of rare digital art, that is, art that is tokenized on the blockchain as a unique digital asset. He is an unwavering and erudite champion of artists in this space. And he is also an artist!
