Upon waking up next to my spaceship to start over once again, I was greeted by something new. A giant obelisk was standing before the first gate at the Helios crash site. It was called Cthonos and it was there to make my future cycles easier in the slightest of ways. Cthonos increases your pool of artifacts and consumables. Every time that you deposit Ether, it creates a consumable or artifact that you haven't already unlocked. Not only do you get the item, but it will now be more likely to find it scattered about someplace in the future. I was hoping that Cthonos was going to boost me in a myriad of ways, but Returnal is not ever going to go easy on us gamers. Despite not getting an invincibility perk or anything like that, I was more than happy to start. cycle with any buff at all. In this video, I take my time to get Selene ready for one more battle with Phrike. I knew exactly how I wanted my build to be this time and was making sure I accumulated everything before I jumped down to face Phrike, who had already finished me off three other times.
