Having goals is nice. It is a good thing since you know what you are striving for and at the same time it gives you a reference point and something to be happy about if succeed. 
Five months ago I setup a [goal](https://steemit.com/steemit/@dalz/it-is-time-to-get-serious-about-steemit-i-m-setting-up-a-goal) for myself to add 250 STEEM per month. I remember I was writing that post while I was waiting on airport. At that time STEEM was around 1$.

I told myself that I want to add 250 STEEM per month, and if I don’t earn them, I buy the difference. The thing is the price of STEEM plumed just after and I started buying STEEM. When I set my goal then, I had around 300 STEEM. Now I have around 2250. 

In five months I have added around 2000 STEEM, meaning on average around 400 STEEM per month. I have achieved and exceed my goal! Time to celebrate! 
I don’t remember how much of that was bought exactly, but I think it is somewhere around 700 to 800 STEEM. 

Now I have a longer history here and more experience. I can tell with better precision what I can expect in the next period. 

## Dolphin by the end of the year?

At the moment I have around 2300 STEEM. I think 200 STEEM per month earned, is a realistic scenario for me. There is 9 months to go till the end of the year, meaning I can earn somewhere around 1800 STEEM. Add that on the top of the exciting one and I will finish the year with 4100 STEEM. Not the 5000 needed for dolphin. But this is STEEM predicted just from earnings. I guess I will probably buy some more 😊. If that happens, I will be closer to the 5000 goal.

From this perspective looks like that it will be a close race, but there is a chance.

### Ace in the pocket
All the above was referring for earning STEEM as a blogging platform. As we know there are dApps and games in Steem that allows you to earn tokens and Steem. I have a dedicated alt account @dalzphoto to @actifit. I’m posting quite regularly there. That account is near 500 STEEM and will become a minnow soon. I have some AFIT tokens, then SteemHunt tokens, even MagicDice tokens. It will be interesting what will happened with them by the end of the year. They can improve the portfolio by a lot. 
Then there is @steemmonsters. I have around 200$ worth of cards at the moment. I also participate in tournaments and daily quest. Steem Monsters can also help to achieve the goal. 

### So, it is final. I’m going for a dolphin status by the end of the year!
