0.000 HBDLearning New Things - Journey to a HE Lite Node Part 2
Two weeks ago, I started my journey to set up my own HE Lite Node. I shared about it in this post: https://peakd.com/hive-119826/@darmst5339/learning-new-things-journey-to-a-he-lite-node When I started, I had no clue what I was doing or how to do it expect for a couple of post with some instructions. However this did not stop me from starting this learning process. ## My Journey over the past week I signed up for a virtual Linux server with Ubuntu 20.4 and got a PUTTY account so that I could access the server. I had to watch lots of videos online to learn about SSH so that I could set that part up properly. When you know nothing about it or the associated commands, each time you encounter something different you have to research it on the web. The hardest part so far has been learning the Linux command line commands. The simplest of actions for someone that knows their way around a computer are all foreign to me. There are some commands that start another process and all the commands change. Then I would find myself back online researching how to get out of that screen. I finally got to a point that I could start following the instructions in the post by @rishi556 and @bala41288 These posts have been very helpful and very straight forward except when installing there were several times I had to research online what one of the programs were vs the other. I would have to go back run because a program was not installed or a different version, research online and then run the next install command until all programs were there. How to install anther one that was needed as a dependency. Then back to installing and checking dependencies again. It seems to be a circle there for a little while. It seems the simplest part was getting the latest version of the lite database and completing the restore part of the instructions. ## Newest Challenge I was finally able to get through all of the instructions and down to the last ones. Running the program. I started the process and the screen looks slightly different than in instructions but it does show "online". Then I checked the log and status of the program and it had stopped so I started it up again and checked the log file. More errors to research. I copied these lines into the search bar so I could search the internet for solutions. Nothing that matched. I found one that stated a Ctrl+C was used in a program that caused their issue but it did not tell me where or what program to search in to see if that was my issue. Here is where I need someone to point me to what I should research online now. I have been researching online but nothing seems to point me to an action that I can take or where to even look to try and fix this issue that I am now encountering. Is this familiar to anyone? If so could you point me to where I should start my research on this? I have been thinking that I could just delete everything and start over but wanted to ask first before I took that action. I will be asking in the discord group as well so that I can get this moving but I know they have a lot of other issues going on that are probably higher priority than this. Thanks in advance for pointing me to my next action.
