 Seeing as we had to cancel our Lake District trip, we decided to head out to York today. Having cleared the snow from the car, we were freezing, and by the time we got to York, we were ready for a coffee. We popped into Patisserie Valerie, as I'd walked passed numerous times and eyed up the Black Forest Gateau, which was yum, the coffee was a lovely drink too.  After our coffee, we headed out over to the Shambles, I love this little street, it's a real life Diagon Alley, and I've heard parts of Harry Potter films were made here. Speaking of Harry Potter.....  This is a shop at the bottom of the Shambles, and it's dedicated to everything Harry Potter, I was astounded by just how much Harry Potter merchandise there is.  We then decided to head up to York Minster as I'd been wanting to go in, you can see the Minster from miles around, it must be the tallest building in York.  I love this view....  I still can't believe that there is scaffolding up on the Minster, it must have been on there for 5 years already, so sadly we can't see it in it's full glory while they are doing repairs. Inside is absolutely beautiful...   The minster is absolutely massive inside, and the roof is very high, I can only imagine what people of the day thought of the minster when it was first built. The church organ is a thing of beauty too, with pipes up to it on an industrial scale.   For £12.50 for a ticket, it's not bad value as the ticket is valid for a year, however for a free alternative to York Minster, check out Beverly Cathedral, a beautiful church with free entry. The weather was starting to change again and we headed back to the bus, I find the park and ride at the Yorkshire Outlet is a good place to park, and it's only £3.50 for a return ticket into/out of York, and not have to worry about trying to find a parking place.  The above image is Cliffords Tower, it was on TV that they had put a roof on etc, and I wanted to go in, however it was closed for a private function, so maybe on my next visit. Today has been a good day, we managed to get home safe between snow storms. Sadly my pics aren't the best as only had my phone on me, and the iPhone XR camera is shocking lol.
