Today, one of my friends asked me a difficult question.  

<em>"When is the right time to leave a company?"</em>

Here are my answers to his question.

<strong>1. There is nothing else to learn</strong>

When you are young, you should work for a company who is willing to teach you as much as possible. Not just one or two skillsets to manage day-to-day operations. The company must also be willing to invest in you - to groom you to handle greater responsibilities for future expansion.

If the company isn't doing that and you feel that you can learn much more elsewhere.

<em>Maybe, it's time to go! </em>

<strong>2. You have lost the passion</strong>

You definitely must have a passion for something in order to do it every day. Initially, you might be able to do it because you were passionate about it. However, once the passion has worn out, it will be difficult for you to manage the day-to-day operations as well as before. 

Just like what Chatri Sityodtong said, without love &amp; passion, one can't survive the hardships.   

<strong>3. You're only working for the income</strong>

Your focus has shifted from the impact you have on the business/company to only focusing on the payslip. You will feel miserable, you will only zoom in on the smaller picture instead of the bigger picture. Your personal growth, well-being, and other more important aspects will be affected.

<strong>4. You're beginning to dread going to work</strong>

I understand that most people wouldn't like their job. Most people will have bad days at work. But when I mean dread going to work, I seriously mean that you will be sulking at work, you will be filled with anger or resentment and you dislike your roles &amp; responsibilities. Once you feel this way, you will go to work with an unproductive mindset and that will not benefit you nor the company.

<em>It's better for you to move on to something that excites you once again</em>

<strong>5. The company has no clear direction</strong>

Lastly, if you feel that the company's top management is unable to bring the business to a higher ground and there is limited growth for the company; it is advisable for you to seek other companies that have better growth potential.

<em>"If the captain of the ship is unable to steer clear away from the iceberg, I doubt anyone wants to be in a sinking ship, dying along with the captain." </em>
<h2>Ultimately, you must truly be passionate about your day job in order for you to contribute and add value to the business. If there is no value generated, it's better for you to add value elsewhere!</h2>
