<div class="text-justify"> The digital age has presumably brought about a lot of changes and advancements to our world today, encompassing different aspects and facets of this life. And thankfully, music isn't an exception, for it has been highly influenced by this growth and advancements of the digital age, which has left almost nothing untouched and unaffected. https://img.leopedia.io/DQmRuNDtDvfJDWsLqCAWinu3ZgWNejXdRBDAimKgueGP1Bt/equipment-8212458_1280.jpg [Image Source](https://pixabay.com/photos/equipment-dj-controller-disco-8212458/) When we look closer or even from afar, we would see some of these effects of the digital age on music, including various means and measures that portray these changes. I tend to wonder now, if there was no such growth, none of these digital perks that we've seen today initiating this mind-blowing shift to the music world and industry, what would music be like? Perhaps, it would look and remain like what some of us grew up to see and know as music, and its expressions as at then. Today, we've been privileged to have all manner of sophistication added to the music world, spicing things up and making it more interesting, engaging and appealing to every music lover and just listeners even. What would I count as some of the changes that the digital age has stamped on music? A lot could be said and discussed in this context, ranging from instruments, recording sessions, music performances and concerts, production and publishing of music (audio/video), revenue generation, sharing of music, and the listening medium, to name but these only. One could then say that music has been affected and largely transformed in every way possible with the introduction of the digital age. I could recall when the selling or publishing of music content, be it audio or video had to be on a disk or diskette, today all it takes is one platform or another to upload it and boom, it flies around, reaching a wider audience even. The likes of streaming platforms such as Spotify, Audiomack, Boomplay, Apple Music, Deezer, Soundcloud and others have made this possible. I'll say this has given music artistes today the privilege to have a wider recognition and engagement, easier, faster and even cheaper. Advancements in musical instruments are another point to consider in this discussion. Today, there are way more sophisticated instruments for singing, playing, recording sessions and production/regulation of sounds for music artistes and producers, in whatever case. Some are new while others are enhancements of the existing ones, all leading to a better music experience for all. The gadgets and tools involved in music performances today are another place where these advancements can be seen. https://img.leopedia.io/DQmS9ttHanhXU31ciqe1yef4CMz58ofsYux6QXFJnnu3Lf1/microphone-7495739_1920.jpg [Image Source](https://pixabay.com/photos/microphone-music-rec-studio-shure-7495739/) Going further, looking at the listening devices available today that one could use for a pleasant music experience, it's way better than how it used to be. When all that was relied on was a radio, then later an MP3 player, there are a variety of devices available today for the listener to enjoy his or her music, with comfort, ease and the best experience possible. It's good that there are several of these, in different forms, such as the boom box, earpods, wired earpiece, headphones, to loud blasting devices. There's certainly a change and a growth. In the distant future, all of these could turn out to be outdated in the music world. If there's one thing certain about the digital age is that there'll always be advancements, leading to changes. Undoubtedly, music would not sit behind and watch, but will rather hop on that train too. --- ###### Thank you for reading through! </div> Posted Using [INLEO](https://inleo.io/@daverick/digital-age-digital-music-dfa)
