HOW MY FRIEND GOT SCAMMED
<div class="text-justify">

So yesterday I wrote a post on How I escaped being scammed which was one of the topics for the Hive learners weekly featured contents. We were asked to describe our experience with a fraudsters and I was opportune to read lots of write ups regarding this.

Honestly I was not surprise seeing lots of people describing how they got scammed by these fraudsters. Truth be told, if you ain't vigilant and wise enough, you will definitely be one of their victims sooner or later.

Like I said in my post, I have never been scammed by them since I already know all their numerous ways of scamming people. I learnt this from the experiences of others and luckily for me, I also learnt more from the different stories I read yeaterday.

One thing I got to really understand is that most people fall victim because of greediness. It's one thing to be vigilant and wise and it's another thing to be greedy. These scammers already know that most persons are greedy and that's why they use that as an advantage to scam them.

I laughed so hard when I was reading some of these stories yesterday. It made me remember the story my friend told me about how he was scammed and trust me, this was because of his greediness. I couldn't stop laughing at him because it was totally his fault he got scammed. This was something he would have avoided but because of his greed for money, he ended up losing the last cash he had on him.

He subscribed to one of this whatsapp TVs which gave him access to lots of entertainment on his WhatsApp status. However, instead of seeing the entertainment he subscribed for, my friend started noticing that the owner of the whatsapp TV was always posting different transaction receipts which was a prove that he was sending money to some of his viewers.

Everyday he will inform his viewers that he is in a good mood to do giveaway and that the first five persons to reply that status will be credited and immediately after that, he will start posting transaction screenshots showing that he has already transfered the money to the lucky persons.

Then after some minutes, he will tell his viewers that he is still in the mood to do giveaway but this time around, any amount anyone sends to him will be doubled immediately. Just like before, he will upload transaction screenshots and then the screenshot of the conversation he had with the person to show everyone that the person actually sent the money and he kept to his promise by doubling the money for the person.

My friend kept observing this for 3days and then he thought of giving it a try. He had just $5 on him and instead of trying with either $1 or perharps $2, my greedy friend decided to try with the whole $5 since that will give him $10 in return. That's how my friend contacted the guy and sent the $5 dollars to him. He then sent the transaction receipt to the guy and the next thing he saw was a message from the guy telling him he has been scammed.

Can you imagine a scammer having such audacity to tell his victim he has been scammed? My friend couldn't believe his eyes. He immediately replied the guy to know exactly what the guy meant by the message and the guy told him again that he was foolish enough to believe all those things that man has to eat and that's why he scammed him because he was naive and greedy.

The guy told my friend that why would he believe that someone would double his money in this economy and that he must be so foolish to think that way. It was just like a movie in my friend's eyes and as soon he realized what has happend, he pleaded with this guy to send back even if it's a dollar for him to use and eat but the fraudster refused and immediately blocked my friend.

Honestly, I couldn't hold my laughter when my friend told me this story since I already told him never to involve himself in such because they ain't real. His excuse was that he observed it for 3days and it was so real because he was seeing the conversation the guy was having with others and how happy this people that benefitted from the giveaway were.

I had to make him understand that the conversations he saw were all part of the plan to lure him into doing it. The people the guy had the conversation with were all his friends. Even though the transaction receipts were real, the people the guy sent the money to were also his friends and they will send the money back to him after everything.

That's how my guy cried all through because that was actually his last cash. I just couldn't stop laughing at him. I had to give him something so he could get something to eat even though I never wanted to because I already warned him against that and so it was all his fault he got scammed.

I hope we all learn from the mistakes of others and don't wait until it happens to us before we learn. Let's not allow our love for money lure us into becoming victims of these scammers.
