<center> ***Music cleanses the understanding; inspires it, and lifts it into a realm which it would not reach if it were left to itself.*** **-Henry Ward Beecher-**</center> <div class="text-justify"> [source](https://www.pexels.com/photo/grayscale-photo-of-printer-paper-with-printed-music-life-near-headphones-3104/) Music plays a very important role in the lives of most people, and it means a lot to almost everybody out there. With all the different kinds of music out there, there's always a lot of different emotions and mood involved when listening to them. Fortunately for us, there is always a music to suit almost everybody. To some music is just an organized pattern of sound but to others, music is more. These set of people believe that music is not just a catchy rhythm or beat, rather it is a way to express their emotion and a way of living, where they can feel free and escape into their own world. Music for me is one of the most significant part of my life. Apart from writing, music has always been one of the ways I express my feelings and relate myself to the world. It is my companion and my healer, something I run to in my darkest times and I get better. For me, there is rarely any purpose for a lot of things without music, so I guess music is everything I can ever think of since it helps me connect to life. I want to appreciate @mipiano for this wonderful opportunity of making us see music from our neighbours point of view. I have actually never seen music from anybody's point of view before, but I'm glad I will be doing this today. I will be using some questions posed by @mipiano to share my thoughts and understand music better from my neighbour's point of view. #### <center>**Are you a musician or have a neighbour that is a musician?**</center> Can I call myself a musician? I think it all depends on our definition of who a musician is. If being a musician means you must be singing with musical instruments, then I am not a musician but if being a musician means being able to sing with or without musical instruments, then I am one. I love music a lot and I sing a lot. I'm a song leader in church and most times, I lead praises and worship sessions. I'm even part of an acapella group, and sometimes we do get invited to entertain people with music. Hope I'm not wrong to call myself a musician? [source](https://www.pexels.com/photo/man-and-woman-playing-guitar-1164763/) I have had neighbours and still have neighbours who are musicians. It's like that's the most lucrative business(hope I can call it that) in my country currently, so everyone is going into music. #### <center>**Does someone in your close family play an instrument?**</center> If it's someone from my close family, then my answer will be a No. None of my close family member plays an instrument, but I have so many extended family members that do play instruments. You might be wondering why this is so, right? I'll tell you. We attend a church that doesn't make use of musical instruments in worship, but we sing melodiously with the fruit of our lips. So I'm into Acapella basically. I didn't get to learn any musical instruments even when I had the opportunity, since I thought I had no need for it. Guess I thought wrong because I'm currently regretting why I didn't get to learn these instruments. [source](https://www.pexels.com/photo/close-up-photo-of-person-playing-piano-1246437/) I had a friend who wanted to teach me the guitar back then, but I didn't take it serious. Another friend wanted to teach me how to play the piano, but I refused to learn. Now I'm in dire need of wanting to learn how to play a piano because I'm currently undergoing a voice training and I heard it will be of great help accompanying that with a piano. #### <center>**Is it difficult to listen many times to the practicing sessions?**</center> To be honest, it's very difficult, like very difficult. I hate being disturbed with these practicing sessions. I get irritated easily by these sessions and that's why I always don't like to rent an apartment close to where churches are located. [source](https://www.pexels.com/photo/man-performing-on-stage-2102568/) I just feel they are always disturbing the neighbourhood with their noise especially during their choir practice. I call it noise because I don't always get to hear beautiful sounds coming out from their instruments since it's a practicing session. I would really love and appreciate if they don't have these sessions with loudspeakers. That would reduce the notice I think. #### <center>**Maybe you are not a musician, either have a musician neighbour... but you like to listen to loud music?**</center> Loud music?... My favourite..๐ ๐. But how can I be listening to music that's not loud?... I really won't get to feel every bit of the music without it being loud. In fact, the louder, the better... ๐ ๐.. [source](https://www.pexels.com/photo/closed-up-photography-of-brown-wooden-framed-sony-speaker-157534/) I tend to feel the music more when it's loud and because of that, I can spend a huge amount of money just to get good speakers. I really don't know why, but I tend to enjoy it that way. #### <center>**What was the wildest thing you made in your flat, bothering the neighbours?**</center> Have I ever bothered my neighbours?.. I think I have, but was it weird?.. I really can't say if I can call that weird though.. Let me leave you to judge the matter... A church in my neighbourhood was having a vigil one certain night. The noise coming out from their speakers were so loud that I couldn't sleep at all. Fortunately for me, we had power and all I could think of was to play music. I went to the sitting room around 1am to play a very loud music. I just didn't care anymore at that moment. I just didn't want to hear the sounds coming out from those church speakers. I'm still surprised nobody complained about that till today because the music I played that night was really so loud. This is the reason I said I don't know if it was weird or not. #### <center>**What is your favourite music you listen to very loudly??**</center> I virtually listen to every music very loudly. I love music a lot and I listen to all genres of music depending on my mood. Different genres for different mood. ๐ ๐.. But really, that's what I love even when I'm using my headphones, it tends to still get very loud. So be it country music, R & B/soul, gospel songs, classicals, alternatives, hip hop, pop, and others, listening to them loudly, gives me joy. #### <center>**Has someone called the police?**</center> Hahaha.. Nope, someone has never called the police and I don't think they will ever do because even though I play my music so loud, I'm always cautious not to disturb others with my music. You want to know how I do that?.. Hmmm...see me in camera to get the tips. #### <center>**What do your neighbours listen to, and do you like it?**</center> My neighbours listen to virtually every genre of music and I do like them a lot. Most times I wake up to a gospel song blasting out from my neighbour's speakers. I see my self singing along to these songs. In the evening after coming back from work, I hear others playing some latest Nigerian hip hop songs. And as from 10pm, I do hear some playing some emotional soul connecting blues which most times I sleep off listening to them. So yes, I love what my neighbours listen to. ***We should never forget that music is life.*** This is my entry to the writing challenge organised by the Q-inspired Community.
