The sun came out in Halifax on Friday, January 4th, and it actually felt warm on my face as I was walking home to Dartmouth through Downtown Halifax. I stopped by the mostly deserted boardwalk to take a few snaps of the "Volunteer" and "Emigrant" sculptures near the Farmers Market. https://davekingsite.files.wordpress.com/2019/01/img_1548.jpeg?w=1024 This chilly looking sculpture, is dedicated to the WW II women volunteers. You can read more about this sculpture's history at https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/monument-women-second-world-war-volunteer-entertainment-1.4403499 Next to The Volunteers is the bronze sculpture "The Emmigrant" that was erected in memory of the thousands who entered Canada through the Pier 21 Immigration Depot. https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/pier-21 https://davekingsite.files.wordpress.com/2019/01/img_1550-1.jpeg After taking a break to snap these pictures, I continued on my way to the ferry along a mostly deserted (and really slippery) boardwalk. https://davekingsite.files.wordpress.com/2019/01/img_1552-2.jpeg
