We are Alive in Naples - IAAC 20 - Plebiscito's Place
Today a sunny day has brightened our mood even if the temperatures are not so spring. This year the winter continues to tell us that it still wants to reserve some spite for us.

Today I make a post a little different from the others as I want to show you one of the many wonderful squares crowded with so many tourists these days.

Tourism seems to have restarted in a big way in the city and Naples seems to have returned #alive and has allowed me to spend my 20th stage of the #iamalivechallenge with great joy.

Piazza del Plebiscito, which houses the monuments featured in the photos in this post, is 25,000 square meters large and was consecrated with the construction of the Royal Palace of Naples where the Spanish Vice-kings resided. However, the current size was due to expansion works following the conquest of the city for a decade by the French.

However, the current size was due to expansion works following the conquest of the city for a decade by the French. In fact, the French ordered the suppression of all the monasteries of the kingdom and, in Plebiscito's Place, all the existing sacred buildings were demolished, leaving a void that tripled the original size of the square in front of the royal palace.

Returning to power, the Spaniards erected a large church in front of the royal palace as gratitude for that saint who hoped for a return of the Spanish dynasty to power in the kingdom of Naples and Sicily and help the Bourbons to defeat the French under Joachim Murat. Currently the majestic church is called the Pontifical Royal Basilica of San Francesco di Paola.

The Neapolitans are a population that has always cultivated a fascination for the monarchy and the Spanish kings were the sovereigns to whom they remained most attached even if in the end the character of the Neapolitans led them several times to move away from the whims of the Bourbon kings. At a certain point, for this reason, a popular story was born that mocked the sovereigns for these 4 statues. I will not tell you but I leave you the interpretation of the funny poses of these wonderful works of art! I'll reveal it to you later in the comments below.
