Paper Cranes in the Wild ~ Origami Japan
The other day I read [this great post](https://ecency.com/hive-105425/@koto-art/asian-heritage-month-online-origami-workshop-english-and-japanese) from @koto-art in which she talked about teaching some origami at a local school.

It reminded me of when I first learned origami long ago.

As I commented on her post:

> I remember when I was in 3rd grade we had a Japanese lady visit our class and she taught us origami. I don't remember why she visited—I don't know if we have an Asian Heritage day or month in America—but I remember I was so amazed that it was possible to fold such interesting things with paper! For the rest of my elementary school days, I learned as many origami models as I could. In those days origami books weren't common and of course this was long before the internet, so I learned new models slowly. I remember in the 5th grade there was a Japanese student who came—his parents were foreign students at the local university—and I picked his brain for as many origami models as he could teach me.

These days I don't do much in the way of learning new folds or models, but I still enjoy folding the ones I learned long ago. Her post reminded me of a photo project I did a few years ago where I folded 1000 paper cranes (which is a special number of cranes in Japan) and took photos of all of them in various places.

Here are a few photos from that series.

Maybe I'll post more from this series in the future. Or maybe I'll do a sequel to this project sometime. Anyway, this is all for now. Enjoy!
