Forest protect and provide shelter for wildlife like birds. In the past, almost one-half of our land was covered with forest. But at present, some of our forest are denuded because of illegal logging. typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and fires can destroy forest. these are among the enemies of our forests. but the worst enemy is man. his carelessness, lack of concern and desire to earn so much cause destruction to our forests.

>Lumbermen should be very careful in cutting down trees. They should observe the laws concerning the use of our forests. they should cut down mature trees only and replace them with new ones. Our government should enforce the law which prohibits the practice of kaingin. Our forest reserves should be protected from squatters too. kaingeros burn parts of the forest. They do this to have space for planting crops such as corn, vegetables, fruit-bearing plants and root crops..

To prevent people from destroying our forests totally, our government has reforestation program. Businessmen who are permitted to cut down trees are required to plant new ones. The Bureau of Forest Development implements and supervises the reforestation program of our government.
