Runner
*I had a poem called Runner in my textbook when I was in primary school. Honestly, there were so many beautiful poems in the books of our time that the students read them with great interest and joy. Personally, my passion for Bangla literature started from then. However, I was born when the Runner's era was over, so I didn't see those tall, honest, and fearless men, I just heard stories about them. Over time, roads and highways built for better communication and motorized vehicles began to move on it. Eventually, people found better ways to communicate with each other and post offices were built. So this traditional method of exchanging information is no longer needed and that was the end of Runner era.*

*I can still remember when I was very young, landlines were not readily available in rural areas. People who had relatives working abroad had to go to the local Thana headquarters to talk to them and from there they used to talk through trunk calls. And the mobile phone was beyond imagination. So writing letter was one of the means of exchanging information then. At that time there was a post office in each union and letters were distributed from there. Sometimes the postman would go from door to door and distribute letters. Although there are still those post offices but its activities are now very limited. Due to the advancement of technology, the world is now like a small village and through social media, people can easily reach their close relatives. Although this is not face to face interaction, it is virtual, so the appeal of love and emotion remains in question.*

*Newton's third law states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Since I am a science student, so I have a different level of weakness towards Newton. Although his theory is proven by science but I can find a lot of similarities with it in our daily and social life. Thousands of examples can be given in support of this but I am not going that way. I just understand that as we become more modern day by day, our inner simplicity is constantly lacking. Intolerance, instability and violence are growing inside us. We have a tendency to deceive people. It is like a sick competition of who will deceive whom to make wealth. It seems that we will be here on earth forever and that is why everyone is running after wealth and power.*

*In the midst of so many complications and deceptions, sometimes it seems that our ancestor’s time was probably good. Where sleeping in a soft bed with AC on, we can not sleep at night whereas our ancestors worked hard all day and as soon as they put their body in the bed, their eyes were closed in peace and slept peacefully. Sometimes, putting several locks we still feel unsafe about our house whereas they used to sleep opening the door because maybe they didn’t know or believe in stealing other belongings. Every person of that time was like Runner who carried the dreams and wealth of thousands of people from one place to another with ease and without any greed. In our society today, we need such thousands of runners to build it properly.*
