I’ve never been much of a planner. I tend to blow with the prevailing wind. If you’d told me six years ago that within months I’d be living off the fat of the land in the countryside, I would have called you crazy. I was a city girl, in love with the hustle, the bustle and the convenience, everything within easy reach and always someone to natter to. And I do love a good natter with a stranger, the stranger the better.

But when we heard *on the wires* shortly before the COVID nonsense hit that something was coming that would change life as we knew it and make city living less desirable, we upped sticks and fled to the country quick smart. Being locked down in a city apartment without access to shops or a gym without a mask would have been a living hell. It was a good decision. We’ve lived happily ever after and if the world was not in an unmitigated mess I’d probably die here, owning nothing and being happy.

But alas the winds of war are blowing in Europe and an island in the middle of the Atlantic is not the best place to be. Besides we’re expecting the imminent collapse of the financial system, a possible bail-in and come October, according to Ursula Van Der Whatsit, we might even see the introduction of the digital euro. With war comes financial controls preventing money from being moved out of the country. That'd sure put a stop to our gallop! Then there’s the vaccine passport all wrapped up and ready to go.

None of these things delights, excites or suits my freedom-loving nature and anarchist lifestyle. Perhaps the one thing I could conceivably change in my life that would have a positive effect is getting the hell out of Dodge.

Or maybe I’m just nuts!
