Sometime before noon of February 12, 2024, my internet got cut off...

I passed it off as a simple maintenance because it has been a while and it does happen from time to time, it can be said as a common occurrence. However, it was weird that they would do a maintenance in the day, it always had occurred at midnight.

For the meantime I decided to watch cat videos off the internet on my smartphone using mobile data, I have stacked about 44 or so GB of  mobile data from renewing and not letting my 30-day subscription expire.

A good two hours have passed and access to the internet hasn't been reinstated, Something is amiss.

I see my mother awake from her slumber looking at me with a smile, this prompts me to do my daily task of replacing her diaper and other things.

I heard noises, outside PLOK! PLOK! PLOK!, a familiar sound, it's the sound of an extension ladder being used. To me, it was a clear sign that something went wrong and my internet line was a casualty, again, a common occurrence.

After finishing my duties it was time to buy food for us, I ready myself to head out and open our main steel accordion doors.

HOLY FUCK!

It looked like heavens were striking the ground with a ray of light, The wind blows through my skin enveloping it akin to being wrapped with a towel dipped in warm water.

I step into the light of the sun, It felt like my skin is penetrated with a thousand needles.

It was 90°F (32°C) and humidity levels are always somewhere in the 50%-60% range.

This is all of course, a common occurrence as well.

A city ordinance, a project. "Grooming and bundling activity of the dangling utility wires and cables."

I am a quiet person, stoic, and a proud owner of a resting bitch face (unless I'm with a group I consider as close with), in mind however is a different matter, "WHAT THE FLYING FUCK!"

The aim of this project is to bundle wires from a maintenance post to another maintenance post, The goal is a positive thing, to beautify the streets. And to be clear it does look nice.

Except for that teensy weensy minor IMPORTANT DETAIL ON HOW THEY ARE GOING TO ACHIEVE IT! HOLY SHIT, the wires were stretched and are forcibly put together with steel wires.

there are even cables that are bundled in one end only to jump to another bundle midway. LIKE HOW, WHY, WTF!

Anyway I look at the project banner again and read the topmost words. "Please Bear With us." HOLY FUCK! NO KIDDING!.

I took a moment to compose myself and ask them if there's someone from my ISP provider, the representative of my ISP provider met me and I explained in one sentence that my internet got cut off.

He tells me that there isn't anything he could do and that I should just call the ISP provider for assistance, I understood, I thank him and take my leave. Again, a common occurrence. This is simply how it works and I know it too well.

After I got home from my errand and other stuff, I decided to contact my ISP, Instead of calling 171, I decided to just go to their Facebook Support Account. It used it before and it turned out to be fine.

It was a pretty straightforward experience, type in your account details and press some buttons, It then went on and automatically diagnose, detect, and filed a repair request. There was no need for any additional inputs, I was satisfied.

AI is definitely taking over jobs...

I didn't expect it to be this fast but the very next day the technicians came and by evening my internet access has been restored, They confirmed my suspicion that the "Project" indeed broke my internetz.

I'm not gonna dwell on it, it's done, it's over.

But man, If you are gonna do something, make sure you do it right and cover all bases. While it's fine for me, how about others who worked from home? Will they (the local government) compensate a victim's wage loss because he/she was marked absent for that day because of this? Chances are that won't happen. Again I'm reminded by the "PLEASE BEAR WITH US" in the banner.

Were they even thinking of the livelihood of the people affected by this? You already give them too much credit if you believe they were thinking.

Whoever planned this deserves a karate chop to the throat and whoever approved this deserves to be poked in the eyes.

You guys didn't even have the decency to announce in advanced that a project of this scale would be implemented in a given area, You guys should understand, Internet Access had become a basic need.
