Civilization VI is a turn-based 4X strategy videogame developed by Firaxis Games, published by 2K Games, and distributed by Take-Two Interactive. The Mobile port was published by Aspyr Media.

I have the mobile port in my phone, it's really good.

Civilization VI is the sixth installment in 'Civilization' Series. (not including spinoffs such as Alpha Centauri, Civilization Colonization, Civilization: call to Power, Civilization Revolutions, Civilization Beyond Earth, and others.)

Civilization VI is the third game to use Hexagonal tiles over the discontinued square tiles.

![4.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EoEoz1NUkpLvNP4Tr6JxfhzkRGk1EdWw8JyNBdhMvLqSfwvoAeAv89cZpzV22tRojuw.jpg)

Comparisons Civilization VI's Hexagonal system to Civilization IV's Square system.

Note: Civilization IV is the last game in the series to feature square tiles

* Civ VI has over Civ IV:
	* Hexagonal Tiles. (in square tiles moving diagonally has an advantage).
	* One Unit type per Tile. (No 'Stacks of Doom', you can only have one combat unit, one civilian unit, one trade unit at a time.)
	* Units with Range Attack. (Civ games based on square tiles do not have this feature)
	* Cities can defend itself via City Defenses.
	* RNG in combat is removed.
	* it's so complicated for the A.I. that it ends up being garbage.

![4.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EoEq62Pk2kEgaFaHmGeREzpg1HNLFMcYXWMdtfpd14xk12GxzfkPEb2piu5Ss7vX5XR.jpg)
A trebuchet attacking a city. a ranged unit.

* Civ IV has over Civ VI
	* Square Tiles. you can zoom zoom the map diagonally.
	* Stacks of Doom!. you can fit unlimited combat units in a single tile.
	* No Range attacks. 'Ranged' units such as an archer gets a 'first strike' bonus though.
	* Cities needs a unit to defend it or else it will be captured. cities have bonus defense power to units defending it.
	* RNG in combat, I have seen a barbarian armed with a club destroy a tank.
	* Bombard City Defenses. siege units can reduce the bonus defense power of a city to 0%.
	* Collateral Damage. some units(mostly siege units) can deal damage (up to a certain point) to all units in a stack of doom.
	* A.I. is great.

* Other differences:
	* Civ IV is the last game to feature Vassal System. it's where a losing empire can surrender as a vassal under the winning empire. A vassal can declare independence though, but highly unlikely. I missed it.

Let's play a game and I will describe things along the way.๐Ÿ˜†

Walkthrough

Benchmarks and if your Hardware is up to spec.

the game has a built-in benchmark tool located in the main menu.
![20220527155551_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/Eo1uW75i8GtDdU5vHg5v9Nx8BV9AFbv73akPPJty9SHanU8rtpSqbbtV973oTsfSBkv.jpg)
Graphics Benchmarks. FPS and Frame TIme mostly.
Doesn't matter much as this is a turn-based game.
![6.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EoEqaJrCqcfBnbkUXju4LwZnzyRp3HJ6TvYmwUwZDQCDCmjiAPpwhsGQk6xnVPCZpak.jpg)
AI Benchmarks refers to Turn Time, or how long will you have to wait per turn.
![7.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/Eoc6a2Xwb7K4yULPyiEXYfEKH46y7wqsR7WSbQSkSQP7n8Q6Rt9oYbXnFs1zX5JVBqn.jpg)
Personally , I suggest you do not play this game if you think you have a weak processor.

Game Setup

this is the 'Create Game' option, because 'Play Now' will skip setup.![8.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EogDDxSYDJz1MZfm2CUMiB6AygfnUSa3Pa5L7wESoHaPzgxQCuAQxRFTPtBLWruv3cN.jpg)
There are many Leaders to choose from, but in this playthrough we will playing as Frederick Barbarossa of Germany, for we are focusing on a Domination Victory.
![9.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/Eoe5gbMtBCciszyRzPrvnZmhnPqHxZYTQZ4sgAvxsQ6M2YJ9ct8iX6TLf9fkZ5K8Ph5.jpg)
the perk 'Free Imperial Cities' is really good, allows us to build one more district than what is normally allowed. a district is a specialized improvement on a tile. a 'Campus' District focuses on increasing research. Guard them well as they are significant targets for pillagers.
![20220527212502_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EoGoJUj3Y9q5c6xWwixweB2YYW8by714eyo97KJJeqh5RHZLihHWaco2fq3NkJyWyZi.jpg)
Advanced Setup, in case there are specifics you want to change such as 'No Barbarians'.
But I will play on the default setup, Map type: Pangaea, Map size: Duel, and Game speed: Online.(Fastest)

Note: fast game speed should be play on smaller maps while slower game speeds are preferred in larger maps.

![20220529152254_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/Eo1wU1VMgQA677Fdnkd82V6MiCWBQnC2rroVMh1swf8uRxc2VnbQ3mqfLrQ2DbR41xA.jpg)
Loading Screen. the first paragraph changes depending on which era you load. this was a bit later as I forgot to take a screenshot in the initial load.

Game Start

in the default setting, you start with a warrior and a settler. the warrior can be used to explore and defend, while the settler is used to found your first city. most of the time the starting location is a great place to plop down your first city. most of the time.
![20220527212608_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EoeGqdkUgXVbMGmECYf3FofqyZ7b9UREWV1codTgGYj3haibfdPmcPoDanujc3R2MD4.jpg)
I decided to found my first city one tile southeast of the initial location. this is because there is just too much desert tiles (yields nothing) and we get access sea.
![20220527212737_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EowH9YQabYoEWQbQKSyZSUx7ErH4EvDR7ED7c1hr9NnJwKNynAf6VpEm4aUePfxJnhf.jpg)
notice on the research screen on the left, below the technology called 'sailing', it writes 'found a city on the coast.'. by doing this " mini quest" which I did, It accelerates the research by half. while it's not mandatory to do so it does give advantage.

Technology, Civics, Governments, and Policies.

There are two types of researchable trees.
![20220529175533_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/Eo8SMRfJR9rGzJbUV8fHFS1WgtckzqhMR1hR7J9uRecRhYrShyQSrUX3F4wAN8tHSh3.jpg)
The Technology Tree(above) which is researched by 'Science'.
and, The Civics Tree(below), which is researchable via Culture.
![20220529175537_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/Eo245T22ciopQvQsPpzYSbftY5FaoSTN16Hf7qttVygJkLporD4kh9dea2p2LdSeopk.jpg)
The Technology Tree focuses on unlocking 'physical stuff', while the Civic tree focuses on unlocking Governments, Policies and others of the like.
![20220527212911_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EogLvrbdbDgfvH5744NzKFfu58bTM2csHzQSG3coLRMWnznXaLpP1vrQYr974nzaqyr.jpg)
This is the policies screen. Chiefdom is the initial Government and Discipline, Survey, God King, and Urban Planning are policies. they are color coded. as you research the civics tree you get to unlock more of the policies that best suite your playstyle.

Note: Changing Policies on the fly costs gold, but it doesn't cost gold if it's after a Civic research.

Barbarians, City-States and Unit Promotions.

it appears to me that this game has become a 'defense game'. due to a rampant of barbarians. but if I think about it, it is realistic.
![20220527214152_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/Eou99RJd48Pg4VjYJxBAs9STqSa23q9Smh7GMMURH4A94kwqY1j5cRrXZJW4WeVaYEc.jpg)
Archers are your first unit to be able to fire at an enemy from a two-tile distance.(except from special instances such as elevation.) for example, your archer is on a plain tile and between your archer and the target in a two-tile distance is a hill tile. your archer get a range penalty unless your archer is also in a hill tile. (Open borders doesn't count as friendly territory.)

there could be other bonuses such as Leader specific traits, Policies and Religion specifics as well.
![20220527214500_1.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/demotry/EnyoxGbetRAqbEYeLZkCu373tKQMTt6JBVLVsFx3hLJFg9vQshf1BiCtUj5HooAPgZw.jpg)
as your military units fight so does their experience rise, which in turn let's you choose a promotion.
Note: taking a promotion will also regenerate 50 health points but will end the unit's turn.

And that is pretty much sums it up on how a game of Civilization VI is played.

One thing is for sure is that the AIs didn't put much of a fight and this is because they didn't focus on making combat units.

I imagine this game is more challenging in higher difficulties. but it's just not fair because the AIs get numerical advantages instead of better AI.

As A Multiplayer game.... Yeah I can definitely see this as fun.

all in all it's a pretty good game, but Civ IV and Civ III are better. ha ha ha.

This game is gifted to me by @Akumagai. Thank you.

I would also like to brag that I really love my new Hardware.

I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 1700. I bought the CPU for less than $120 USD from years before the pandemic and has been stuck in storage ever since.

but now after buying a new pair of ddr4 ram, that oversized tower fan and a salvaged A320m motherboard, it is now alive.

I really want this specific CPU mind you. in full load the power draw of this CPU is only at 60 watts give or take. and look at the CPUs available right now. their power draw is at a staggering 200 watts or more, but yeah those are powerful compared to this one.

and then I got this refurbished Ultra Wide Monitor (LG - 25UM58-P). I really love it. but some games don't like Ultra Wides. and it has an audio jack, which is kinda crap.

Hehe. well that's enough from me.

It's Fun.

Thank You For Reading.

Cheers. ๐Ÿ˜Š
