After months of bellyaching about the darkness, cold and rain we *finally* had our first true spring day, today! At 59 degrees (about 15C) it was actually our warmest afternoon since sometime in November.

Truth be known, I actually had *lots* of things I needed to get done today, but I blew off most of them to just *get outside* and get some yardwork done.

Mostly, though, I just enjoyed the sensation of being outside in the *sun* and without the bone-chilling cold we've been having this spring.

One of the thing I learned from my elderly Auntie who helped raise me, back in Denmark, was the gentle art of just *"sitting and seeing."* In essence, it's a sort of meditation in which you sit and observe nature, and truly *see* what's actually there.

I often let the camera help my eyes, because it zooms in to see things I cannot see with the naked eye... and it helps me capture the moods of moments. 

I probably *"just sat"* for about an hour, looking at the pattern of the sun filtering through leaves.

Tiny webs between the planks that make up the back of one of our Adirondack chairs. Probably not something you *look at,* but nature is an amazing place.

It was also the first time this year I've heard this much birdsong!

One was being particularly insistent... and I finally figured out that it was a red finch in the wires, serenading his potential mate. He danced and sang and strutted his stuff... but she didn't seem impressed.

After about ten minutes of giving it his best shot, he flew off.

Meanwhile, the sun reflected through leaves of grass. I *really* net to get that lawn mowed! There are tufts that must be at least 8" tall! 

Oh well, not today...

It was nice to see sunshine on the bay, at last. Watching the reflections on the water is so relaxing.

I didn't even realize there was a bird in that tree till I got back inside to look at the photos. That's part of the fun of using a camera with a long lens.

Of course, my eyesight isn't the best... at least not for seeing things *far away.*

Of course, the *entire* day didn't just go with sitting around and doing nothing... some gardening tasks *did* get done.

Since I am only *just* about to mow the lawn for the first time, we have a pretty spectacular grop of dandelions out there. Mrs. Denmarkguy came out and started harvesting flowers — we're going to try our hand at making some dandelion wine, this year!

As for myself, I managed to get started on some basic spring tasks, like getting rid of dead branches from some of our trees... and the inevitable task of mowing and weedwhacking our backyard labyrinth.

Mostly, though, I really enjoyed the feeling of spring actually *being here,* at last.
