Krypto-Unternehmer Grant Hummer sorgt mit einem Post auf X für Aufsehen. Hierbei sagt er, dass Bitcoin *“wegen seines Sicherheitsbudgets komplett am Arsch ist*”. Er schätzt die Kosten einer 51-Prozent-Attacke bei der Krypto-Leitwährung auf lediglich 8 Milliarden US-Dollar.

Diese werden dem Ethereum-Befürworter zufolge in Zukunft weiter sinken, sodass ein entsprechender Angriff bei Kosten von nur ***rund 2 Milliarden US-Dollar“praktisch sicher passieren wird”.***

>Eine 51-Prozent-Attacke liegt vor, wenn eine einzelne Einheit oder Gruppe mehr als die Hälfte der Mining- oder Staking-Power einer Blockchain kontrolliert und damit die Macht über das Netzwerk erlangt.

Justin Drake, der Architekt des Ethereum-Merge, sagt derweil ebenfalls, dass es *“viel billiger*” wäre, eine 51-Prozent-Attacke auf Bitcoin zu starten als auf Ethereum. Bei Ethereum schätze er das Vorhaben auf rund 10 Milliarden US-Dollar.

Drake hob noch einen weiteren Vorteil hervor, den Ethereum seiner Meinung nach hat: *“Wenn es eine 51-Prozent-Attacke gibt, kann der ‘social Layer’ den Angreifer identifizieren und ihn vernichten. Das ist eine Superkraft von Proof-of-Stake, die es bei Proof-of-Work nicht gibt.”*

Hassan Khan, CEO des Bitcoin-Liquiditätsprotokolls Ordeez, erklärt, dass
 *“die Debatte über die Machbarkeit einer 51-Prozent-Attacke offen bleibt – vor allem, weil, obwohl theoretisch möglich, die Hürden in der Praxis extrem hoch sind.”*

Er sagte, dass bei der Krypto-Leitwährung die notwendige Menge an Rechenleistung und Energie “*einen nachhaltigen Angriff höchst unwahrscheinlich macht”,* während der Konsensmechanismus bei Ethereum *“zusätzliche wirtschaftliche und Governance-technische Hindernisse einführt”.*

Jetzt kommt noch hinzu das Sam Altman CEO von ChatGPT in einem Blog-Beitrag schreibt...

Also gilt ab 2030 Energie nicht mehr als Kostenfaktor bei Proof-of-Work Algorithmen...

Denn jetzt schon ist Strom in Deutschland teilweise Kostenlos  bzw. Im Minus bereich.

Für private Angreifer ist eine 51-%-Attacke auf eines dieser Netzwerke, wie Bitcoin oder Ethereum, zu teuer geworden. Aber seien wir ehrlich: Es wird Zeit, die rosarote Brille abzusetzen!

Wenn die Staaten tatsächlich auf Kryptowährungen wie Bitcoin oder Ethereum Einfluss nehmen wollen, müssen sie nur über Interpol nach Vitalik Buterin fahnden, der Ethereum in Berlin ins Leben gerufen hat.

Oder nach den Bitcoin-Maintainern, die die Schlüssel zur Bitcoin-Blockchain kontrollieren.

Mein persönliches Fazit: Für Hacker ist es wahrscheinlich schwieriger Ethereum zu Hacken , für Staaten wird es schwierig alle Maintainer von Bitcoin gleichzeitig unter Druck zu setzen. 

Aber was wäre wenn die Identität von Satoshi Nakamoto tatsächlich bekannt wäre? 🤔 Vielleicht morgen dazu mehr...

Crypto entrepreneur Grant Hummer is causing a stir with a post on X. He says that Bitcoin is "completely screwed because of its security budget." He estimates the cost of a 51 percent attack on the leading cryptocurrency at just $8 billion.

According to the Ethereum proponent, these will continue to decline in the future, so that a corresponding attack "will almost certainly occur" at a cost of only ***around $2 billion.***

Justin Drake, the architect of the Ethereum merge, also says that it would be *"much cheaper*" to launch a 51 percent attack on Bitcoin than on Ethereum. He estimates the cost of Ethereum to be around $10 billion.

Drake highlighted another advantage he believes Ethereum has: *"If there is a 51% attack, the social layer can identify the attacker and destroy them. This is a superpower of Proof-of-Stake that Proof-of-Work doesn't have."*

Hassan Khan, CEO of Bitcoin liquidity protocol Ordeez, explains that
*"the debate about the feasibility of a 51% attack remains open—largely because, although theoretically possible, the hurdles in practice are extremely high."*

He said that with the reserve cryptocurrency, the necessary amount of computing power and energy "*makes a sustained attack highly unlikely,"* while Ethereum's consensus mechanism **introduces additional economic and governance obstacles."*

Now, to add to this, Sam Altman, CEO of ChatGPT, writes in a blog post...

So, from 2030 onward, energy will no longer be considered a cost factor for proof-of-work algorithms...

Even now, electricity in Germany is partly free or even negative.

For private attackers, a 51% attack on one of these networks, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, has become too expensive. But let's be honest: It's time to take off the rose-colored glasses!

If governments really want to influence cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum, all they have to do is search Interpol for Vitalik Buterin, who founded Ethereum in Berlin.

Or for the Bitcoin maintainers who control the keys to the Bitcoin blockchain.
