# Things to Avoid
## - Having text cut off in thumbnail
## - Having borders cut off

# How does Steemit choose your thumbnail?
Steemit simply takes your very first image and uses that as a thumbnail.

If you make a post and realize you wanted to use a different thumbnail, no worries! You can edit your post with a new image, placed as the very first image, and your thumbnail will update!

# Thumbnail Size
Thumbnails display at 128x73.

The thumbnail also has a 1 pixel grey border, using the hexadecimal color # EEEEEE.

I tend to make my images around 600x342. You can experiment with sizes to get a perfect fit for the thumbnail and also for how it displays in your post as you have to consider both.

I hope that clears up Steemit thumbnails!
