So another year has come and gone, and here we are now in the fabled futuristic year of 2018.

Man, depending on how old you are 2018 either sounds like just another year, or it sounds like something you used to hear in crazy science fiction movies where all cars flew, everyone was rich, and the world was a utopia.

Now we know that it's really just the current year. Sure things have gotten futuristic, we've got the internet, iphones, super fast super tiny laptops, blockchain tech and tons of other stuff, but it still doesn't feel like that futuristic place that we saw in the movies.

Oh well, at least we have Steemit!

And speaking of Steemit, man what a year it has been!! I can't believe I have been around here for almost a year and a half. I also can't believe I didn't buy any Steem when it was down at like $0.07, what a dufus move that was!!

Oh well, at least I got in pretty early when earning was still on the easier end.

I'm proud to say that 100% of my Steem Power was earned by my posting. To be completely transparent, I did pay about $250 canadian when I first joined in a (at the time futile) effort to increase my vote strength (that was way back before HF19) but eventually I cashed in about $300 of my post SBD payouts so that I could get myself square again. So in reality, I've actually earned all of my SP, and that makes me stoked.

I remember the day I first learned about Steemit. I jumped on it the instant I came to the site, because I saw potential here. I knew this place was going to become something amazing, I knew I didn't want to miss this boat, and I think at this point it would be fair to say that I am a Steemit early adopter. Joined in August 2016, what do you think? Does that make me an early adopter?

I know my account should be much more impressive than it is at the moment, but I had a few times where life got crazy and I let Steemit slide for a few months. I feel like I squandered an opportunity a little bit by doing that, but hey, that's life and I am who I am. I'm no good at social media, in fact Steemit is literally the ONLY social media that I even bother to look at, let alone post on, so I think I'm doing my best here, haha :)

I passed 1,500 followers on my account just as the new year rolled in, and I suppose that is quite a milestone. I remember @cryptoctopus contacting me one time when he had around 850 followers, and back then that was pretty huge! I remember when @stellabelle hit rep 70, and she was the first and only one, now 70+ rep is not that uncommon! Amazing to see the growth here, it's almost as if Steemit is going.......

TO THE MOON??????

I kinda wanted to save this type of post for when I surpass 9,000SP, you know, something about being OVER 9,000!!!!!! But I'm not a super regular poster, and it's taking too long. I'll do another post when I get there, haha.

I have to say, with just a hint of shame, that I have been sending most of my SBD payouts to exchanges lately, and buying up some other cryptos that I have become interested in. I feel content with my current SP amount, and from the beginning I viewed Steemit as a risk free way to enter the world of crypto currencies, a world that I had always been interested in and terrified by. Well Steemit has made me a full on crypto enthusiast, and that is quite an amazing thing to me. I currently hold ETH, Smartcash, Doge, a hand full of other altcoins, and of course my favourite, Steem. I'm so stoked to be a part of this world that has always fascinated me, but that I could never develop the guts to invest in before. Steemit has been an incredibly easy and safe onramp to the world of cryptocurrencies for me, and for that I will be forever thankful.

This place has such amazing potential, for those who see it, and more and more people are seeing it every day. Heck, I was able to convince two of my best friends and even my sister to join!

Now, I really don't know what this post is about, other than the "HEY GUYS I'VE PASSED (INSERT MILESTONE HERE) PLZ VOTE FOR ME NOW THANKS!!!", but it honestly does feel cool to finally be over 1,500 followers. So here's something fun. As a little thank you to those who have followed, voted, and helped me get to where I am today, give me your most honest, heartfelt comment. Tell me something about yourself. I'll give a 100% upvote to the best 5.

Thanks for everything everyone, thank you Steemit. 2018 is already looking to be amazing, let's see where this crazy Steem Train leads us!

As always if you enjoyed this post feel free to drop one of those sweet, precious, juicy upvotes on me! And be sure to follow me @dexter-k on Steemit to keep up with all of our travels and see new original content every day.
