I extracted my 2017 data from [steemsql](http://www.steemsql.com/) and here's the blockchain's vulgar display of my earnings and stats, ha! Don't worry I can also know yours. But I won't do that! Anyway, this is just to analyze my performance last year and work on the areas for improvement. This is actually based on the author's total payout which also shows when the whales were most kind to me, awww. So it says that July was my best month of the year! So travel was my top category and my niche. But I also wrote about life and Steemit too, those were my rants and all that. I also have one that says 'trav' which is a new tag by the way. I was new that time and I didn't realize that I couldn't change the first tag. So don't be such in a hurry to post.

These are my top posts last year based on author payout. As you can see, you can also earn a lot by just commenting on other posts. I was too busy to comment on other posts lately but just so you know, that's one of the ways to increase your steemit earnings. I guess I'm more of a contributor these days. I will try my best to comment on other posts this year! These are the posts of other authors where I got the highest upvoted comment. I think I got $10 from a whale just by commenting on @nedspeaks' post about investing in steemit, pretty generous! 1. should-one-invest-in-steem - @nedspeaks 2. steem-1-day-macd-could-be-about-to-go-green-soon-on-poloniex - @xaero1 3. journal-yourself-back-to-life - @diabolika * 4. socialism-facsism-and-nazism-why-it-is-the-same-thing - @scandinavianlife 5. 8-mistakes-i-see-beginners-make-on-steemit - @alcibiades

I have 287 posts in total and it looks here that I was a prolific writer last September. Or maybe I just needed to pay the rent so bad, ha! Getting the data from steemsql is pretty easy, you just need to connect to the public database and query it. You can output the data in excel using pivot table and charts. I'm kind of geeking out on this data stuff because I need to practice my analytics background from my previous corporate job for my own project. There are also many SQL query tutorials here on steemit by @arcange, he's the developer of steemsql. Let me know if you have questions!
