"Oh my" was all Jay could mutter as he stood by his hotel window staring down at the city landscape in all its glory. The vapour from his tea rising into the air like an old testament sacrifice to God in appreciation for the beauty of His masterful creation. It was going to be a good day, the best day of his life and one that he feared might never come. What a perfect weather weather for such a day. The sun rising from the far east and lending it's luminance to the landscape, birds chirping away in melodious symphony as if singing praises to their creator. "*Who best deserves to sing praises to their creator than me*" Jay thought as a wry smile escaped his lips.
"*Hey man, what are you doing?*" asked Austin as he stomped into the room unannounced. "*Why are you not dressed?*" he rejoined.
"*I dunno man*" Jay replied as he lowers his tea cup to the table by his side. "*Is this for real?, Is it really happening?*" he continued
"*You'll never know unless you get yourself dressed right now*" Austin snapped back as he walks across the room to gather his friend's stuff as he hurries him out of the room. At the doorpost, just as they were leaving the room, it struck Jay that his life will never be the same again as he leaves this room. That is when the fear got grip of him about the kind of life he's lived overtime, and the reality that all actions and inactions have consequences.
On their way to starting the best day of Jay's life, sitted at the back of his Porsche car, head tilted backwards, Jay was gradually eaten up by guilt like a butcher taking apart an animal, one part after another. Austin sitting just beside him was too occupied trying to fix any bugs that might want to corrupt his best friend's best day to notice that the earlier wry smile had gradually turned to a nocuous frown. 'No, fate can't be this nice to me, it has to be a trick or trap'. 'I can't deserve this' he concluded.
With a sudden cry like one touched by an invisible higher power, he tapped on the driver "*Turn around*"Jay exclaimed, "*I can't do this*". Before Austin could mutter a word, Jay had made the driver perform a sharp turn into a new route. Austin startled by the sudden outburst and totally ignorant of its deciding factors, struggled for words as he turned to his friends totally aghast. 
"*What are you doing Jay?*" he quipped as he noticed for the first time his friend trembling with fear. Receiving no replies and furious at such a sudden change of heart from his friend, he shouted "*I said what are you doing"*?
"*I can't do it man*" Jay shouted back "*I just can't do it*" he rejoined huskily
"*Why*" Austin snapped knowing his friend not to be one to be easily scared or rush into decisions.
"*With all I've done?*" Jay snapped "*I've broken hearts, shattered hopes, killed dreams and even broken homes, and you think someone like me can just get this on a platter?*" Then he paused to catch his breath from the outburst. "*You must either be an impossible dreamer or you're downright naive if you think I deserve this perfection*" he added as he looked out the window away from his friend. Austin having been friends with Jay since their primary school days quickly understood where his friend was coming from.
"*So you're going to bring all these people out only to bail on them at the eleventh hour?*" Austin asked as he patted his friend on the shoulder.
"*Think about it, what if your greatest fear is your means of redemption*" 
Jay turning to face his friend with a teary eye had no other option but to believe and trust his friend and with a soto voce asked the driver to turn back to their initial destination. "*We're here sir*" the driver replied. "*How*" he queried 
"*I would never be able to forgive myself if I helped you sabotage your happiest day yet, so I took a different turn towards the church*" the driver explained.
At that moment Jay realized that he might have had his redemption already. He has the love and support of his friend and the respect and backing of his driver. As he stepped into the church, he was welcomed with a beautiful smile from the one woman who has decided to stick with him and love him irrespective of his flaws and misdemeanors, and that was when he realized that happiness is not a feeling or a destination, but a journey. One that he was ready to take, and as long this woman is by his side he knew that 'he is happy'.
