The Steem network powered with blockchain technology was created as a decentralized social platform in the year 2016. Towards the end of the 4th year, it failed to continue with its promise of the decentralized social platform. Ned of Steemit Inc sold the premined stake(which was originally meant for developement of Steem Blockchain & onboarding) to Justin Sun. Then Justin Sun wanted to amend the rule using that stake by introducing sock puppet witnesses who were unknown to the community and did not have any past record & contribution. The sole purpose was to change the rule without taking concurrence of the community. The community resists, as a result, **it undergoes a process of re-decentralization to create a new platform called Hive.**

So Hive is a decentralized social platform which is a forked chain of Steem. Technologically it has the same fundamental properties as that of Steem Blockchain. But ideologically it is different than that of Steem. The community strives for its decentralized governance that was in danger at one point since 14th Feb 2020 and ultimately leads to the hardfork giving rise to the birth of Hive on 20th March 2020. Steem is no more a community, the premined stakes are still being misused and being given to those people who capitulate with Justin Sun and who self upvote their own post and comment. Steemit Inc has even started censoring. Once it was a popular choice to people for freedom of speech, but it is no more that place. So the decentralized era of Steem has become history. It is a purely a centralized ecosystem now. The entire struggle for creation of Hive was to fight against centralizing Steem, so the community of Steem has already migrated to Hive and here in Hive there is no such thing called premined stake and no one can dictate. The community philosophy prevails here. The decentralized governance is driven by the community. The participation rate is also high in Hive. The community is more stronger with Hive. **HIVE frontends:** **https://hive.blog** (https://hive.blog/) **https://peakd.com** (https://peakd.com/) **https://3speak.online** (https://3speak.online/) For more info on HIVE: Hive - The Blockchain for Web 3.0 (https://hive.io/) Join the HIVE Quora Space: The Hive (https://www.quora.com/q/otycmrjbbhahuqae)
Quora Answer- https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-Steemit-Hive-blog-fork-issue-all-about/answer/Mukul-Bakti-1?prompt_topic_bio=1
