> Adam Grant is an organizational psychologist and bestselling author who explores the science of motivation, generosity, rethinking, and potential.

> Adam Grant has been Wharton’s top-rated professor for 7 straight years. As an organizational psychologist, he is a leading expert on how we can find motivation and meaning, rethink assumptions, and live more generous and creative lives. He has been recognized as the world’s #2 most influential management thinker and one of Fortune’s 40 under 40.

This is my first book that I have finished from him. I have applied 2 things that I learned from this book to my current job.

The first was trying to turn practice into what he calls deliberate play. Making practice more productive and fun. Turn it into a game. I don't rmember exactly what he called it in the book but that was the basic idea. I have really been struggling with a few new hires at work. They are just so different than me. I think a big part of that was the age gap. We are almost 20 years apart and they just see the word different than me. So I started turning practice into a game (play) with them.

My practice (play) was to communicate with them about projects for 10 minutes day. EVEN if it killed me. The goal was to do it for 15 work days strait. The Play part was everytime I finished it I got to go for my daily walk. Kinda of a reward. Its been good and we are making progress.

The second think I have applied in my work like is I am going to every meeting I am invited to with a VP. Most of the time my team takes turns going to these and then reporting back. The company is fine with that. We all try to avoid them. I am trying to go to them all to help myself grow and learn. Adam Grant talks a lot about stretching yourself. I feel the most unconfortable in meetings with VP or C suite level people so I am trying to make that happen as often as possible. I want it to feel more natural.

Good book. I think its great for manager and coaches and parents.

Short review but you can read the book to learn more.
