## Rate Of Learning --- Hi there. In this education post I would like to discuss the topic on learning rate for students. Being able to learn things fast and absorb information fast is very helpful as a student and for general purposes.

## Learning Rate --- When I talk about learning rate I do not refer to machine learning or artificial intelligence. Learning rate in this context is about how fast a student or individual learns new topics. Those who are younger typically learn new things at a slower rate compared to older students and adults. Those high a higher learning rate can learn new things faster as well as learn more. What would the benefits of a high learning rate? Being able to learn fast for a student means that less time is needed to do homework which results in more free time. Those who can learn a lot in a short amount of time can provide utility in the form of speaking multiple languages, cooking, job-related tasks, travel & navigation and problem solving.

## Level Of Focus Helps With Learning --- In a more technological environment where there are many screens and distractions, a person's level of focus is very important for learning. Those who are distracted by screens, sounds and other people would not have rate of learning compared to someone who is more focused. (This is in theory as some are able to focus in noisy environments.) In theory more time spent on learning and homework should lead to the absorption of knowledge, skill development and higher grades. I think this single factor analysis is incomplete as the individual's level of focus is important. Something like 30 minutes of focused learning with minimal distraction is better than 45 minutes of learning with low focus and heavy distractions.

## Catching Up & Review --- There are times when you need to review topics that you have learned from a long time ago. Learning rates on reviewing topics should be higher compared to learning topics for the first time. Older people tend to forget things that they have learned. The upside is that their learning techniques have been refined over the years so the reviewing process should be smooth. This in theory of course and in my opinion. For me personally there are math topics that I am currently reviewing. Topics that were not seen in a long while do look familiar but the memorization of details are not sharp. With review I can review and re-memorize concepts and topics much faster compared to seeing them the first time.

Thank you for reading.
