Blackout Challenge Didn't Originate With TikTok
The 'blackout challenge' has gained a lot of attention on social media recently specifically on TikTok where kids have been allegedly pressured in some circumstances into engaging in this trend. But this trend isn't anything new.. over 20 years ago kids were challenging each other to do this in my own high school and while I am not sure how prevalent the challenge was at the time, it is clear that this is some stupidity that has been around for decades and isn't new but is gaining new attention because of TikTok and other social media that might highlight it.

It looks like there some victims now who have allegedly lost their lives because of the blackout challenge, which can be added to a long list of idiotic challenges that have gone viral over the years on social media. There are dangerous acts and challenges which have also been shared on a wide range of social media platforms, it isn't only TikTok of course.

It is incredible to see the sorts of stupid and dangerous challenges that go viral today and at times astounding to see how much willingness there is from people around the world today to consider it a good idea to engage in them.
