Self-driving delivery bots are already found in a variety of places and now Japan looks like they are making way to have more of them in operation to [combat labour shortages](https://www.euronews.com/next/2023/02/12/japan-will-allow-self-driving-delivery-robots-to-roam-its-streets-to-combat-labour-shortag).

Many restaurants today are hiring aggressively, perhaps it isn't the most appealing situation that people want to be applying for work, among other issues, and this is why they are struggling. Rather than close the doors altogether they have opted for robots in a one setting or another. There are now machines cooking fries, making pizzas, shaking drinks, and delivering food, among other tasks that [they can carry out](https://www.today.com/food/texas-restaurant-hires-robots-servers-amid-staff-shortage-t230728).

# hundreds of thousands of robots in operation

From hotels to small businesses, hospitals, airports, vacation destinations, you never know where you might see one of these popping up to serve you.

Japan is already known as the number one robot maker in the world to some extent and there are a wide variety of robots currently being used around the region. It isn't surprising to see that more food delivery services, among others, might turn this route and incorporate more machinery into the mix.

From carrying groceries to pizzas, we see that robots have for years now been marketed as a tool that *might be able to help serve ageing populations*, among providing other value in communities throughout Japan and elsewhere. [They might solve labor issues too](https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/02/working-in-japan-robots-might-solve-labor-problems.html) when people find it difficult to keep positions filled.
