What Do You Do When A Doctor Doesn't Return Phone Calls?

My last few months have been spent trying to get a doctor to talk to me. I am waiting to reschedule my colonoscopy, because of some stomach issues I have been having. Originally scheduled in October, they wanted me to get Cardiac clearance before the test. So, I scheduled a Nuclear Stress Test. After not hearing back on my test results and not receiving return calls, I schedule an appointment with the doctor to have him go over my results with me. I thought this was ridiculous but I did it anyway.

At the appointment, it is explained to me that there was something abnormal about my results and they recommend a Catherization. They told me to schedule at the front desk. This seems simple, right. WRONG! I was told by the person at the front desk that they will be calling me with an appointment. So I go home and wait for two weeks, with the doctors knowing about my scheduled Colonoscopy.

Not hearing anything from anyone, I call them back only to find out that my insurance company denied the procedure. This is because we live in a world where insurance companies know better than the doctors. I ask to have my doctor call me so we could talk about what to do next and I never hear from him. I speak to the office of the doctor waiting to perform the big C and they try to act as a go-between because they need to know what's going on as well. Eventually, I am told to get a Cat Scan, all this while never speaking to my doctor.

Once again, I don't hear anything, not even my results from the Cat Scan. I am told when I call the Cardiologist's office that they are going to appeal the decision to deny the Cath, which was denied for a second time. I have expressed my level of frustration with my other doctors, who couldn't believe that I didn't get results from the last scan. I even went into a portal where they had my bloodwork results, but at that time, there was no info on the Cat Scan.

One of my other doctors suggested that I make an appointment to find out what's going on. It just seems crazy that I would have to do this. Numerous times I asked if the doctor could call me and I wish I could say that he took the time once to get back to me, but that would be a lie. My procedure now has been pushed back three times because I have been unable to work on getting clearance! Talk about living in a ball of confusion!
