**Day two of the adventure, time to see what Krakow has to offer in daylight. After the evening before and the beauty of the city at night the bar had been set pretty high. As you will see below, it didn't disappoint.** We had so many things to squeeze into one day, so let's get going! http://image.ibb.co/d2U1nc/IMG_5288.jpg ### Town Hall Tower Let's start with the Town Hall Tower. As I said yesterday, this was the first thing that greeted us when we walked through from our hotel to the main square in Old Town. This time, not only was it daylight, but I brought my wide angle lens, which I believe was designed perfectly for cities like Krakow. http://image.ibb.co/iT630x/IMG_5268.jpg http://image.ibb.co/iumstH/IMG_5396.jpg http://image.ibb.co/dxnt0x/IMG_5390.jpg
http://image.ibb.co/hN8i0x/IMG_5395.jpg
There is the option to go to the top of the tower to get a great vantage point over the whole square... however, as you can see, we found out at the bottom that this is only possible at certain times of the year. So, we just posed a photo instead. http://image.ibb.co/cKCnSc/IMG_5272.jpg ### Cloth Hall http://image.ibb.co/fhd5DH/IMG_5405.jpg In the centre of the main square sits this building which, despite being surrounded by other imposing structures, is a stunning architectural feat in it's own right! http://image.ibb.co/iAME7c/IMG_5297.jpg In the 15th Century, this hall was the source of a large variety of exotic goods, such as spices and silks, leathers and wax imported from the East. http://image.ibb.co/j8DSSc/IMG_5285.jpg The Cloth Hall is still home to lots of vendors, each selling things like amber jewellery, hats and scarves and lots of other little trinkets. http://image.ibb.co/kZZ1nc/IMG_5273.jpg ### St Mary's Basilica
http://image.ibb.co/kAV2tH/IMG_5437.jpg
Exiting the Cloth Hall, there no chance you could miss the imposing St Mary's Basilica, with it's incredible architecture and striking size. Time for the wide angle lens again! http://image.ibb.co/d2U1nc/IMG_5288.jpg http://image.ibb.co/nc41nc/IMG_5276.jpg http://image.ibb.co/bxii0x/IMG_5296.jpg ### Horses and Cart Given this was our first visit, we decided the best way to explore and get a gauge of where things were and where to further explore was in one of the horse and cart rides that you can get into from the main square. http://image.ibb.co/hNpCtH/IMG_5311.jpg These were our chosen horses. Bex decided she wanted to make friends. http://image.ibb.co/iqbstH/IMG_5301.jpg http://image.ibb.co/naz1nc/IMG_5304.jpg ### Walking to the castle Next on the agenda was a walk to Wawel Castle. But on the way, Bex managed to find a life-sized stuffed bear and insisted on a photo. http://image.ibb.co/cb8SSc/IMG_5314.jpg We also found the most architecturally beautiful MacDonalds restaurant I think I've ever seen!
http://image.ibb.co/c8Yu7c/IMG_5317_Edit.jpg
### Church of Saints Peter and Paul Further down the path we found the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, yet another impressive building. Even the door was worth a photo! http://image.ibb.co/k04Z7c/IMG_5322.jpg http://image.ibb.co/cf4Z7c/IMG_5324.jpg We ventured inside and found out that they actually have daily concerts in the evenings where they have in musicians to play a selection of classical pieces. We decided to book tickets for the next night as the 'set-list' included *Canon* by *Pachelbel*. This song means a lot to my wife and I, as this was the song that Bex walked down the aisle to on our wedding day (played by my cousin on the guitar) and then we walked back down the aisle after the service to a rock version of the song. Tickets booked, next onto Wawel Castle.
