Sounds like the beginning of a bad Sci-fi movie right. Well, as of today it is now a reality. [Seen here.](http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2018/03/watch-gel-embedded-heart-cells-change-color-every-beat) Scientists have successfully placed heart muscle cells on a bio-compatable , nano imprinted gels with color structure properties. The team then made a tiny object resembling a 3D color changing  butterfly and using the imprinted heart cells they made the butterfly flap its wings. Pretty neat right?   This is where it gets good. They then tested different drugs on the heart/ chameleon hybrid gel that they made into a "heart on a chip" and found that the heart rate would increase or decrease like a real heart would. They think that this has a lot of potential to cut down on human and animal testing. This should help in testing new drugs and make it easier since you can visually see what is happening by watching the colors change. In my opinion this tech could be militarized in a few years and make a real life cloaking cape straight out of Harry Potter or it could be commercialized and people might very well be "wearing their heart on their sleeve" someday soon. Imagine walking up to your crush and everyone can literally see both your hearts skip a beat.
