In thus poem there are 6 blind men that are touching different parts of an elephant and describing it to each other. Each one of them argue between themselves that their opinion is true. In each case it is true... but we know how an elephant looks like. Each one has one aspect of the truth (the elephant) but basing this on the whole truth is absurd. Do we sometimes do this in our lives? Do we have a set pattern in thinking? This has always been the case, life is a dark place where we can only see some glimpses of truth that shine through. And even then we only see part of the truth. Based on this little bit we know we make assumptions about people or other things, which is often incorrect and leads to an unpleasant experience. We often tell ourselves "truths" that are only partly true and can even be untrue. We base our thinking and opinion on limited information. What is truth? -------------- http://stevecha.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Truth-1.jpg [Image credit](http://stevecha.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Truth-1.jpg) Or rather, how can we know the truth? This is a question that everyone, throughout the ages, has been asking and seeking for the answer. Will anyone ever know the truth? -------------------------------- Some of our greatest minds has tried answer this question and many poems and stories have been based around this question. Even now we have more information that what we did previously, some is true, some partly and some false. Since we have access to this great knowledge and information , it has become even more important to find out what is true and what is not. We have many things that was believed to be true but since then have been proven to be untrue (earth is flat). Often the problem is found where we make the mistake that belief is the same as truth. Just because something is convenient and makes sense doesn't mean it is now true. Then, ironically, we might not believe something is true (when it is true) because it requires us to admit to mistakes we have made or even change who we are. No one wants to get out of their comfort zone. This can make the difference in your lives and those we interact with. Is it possible that we can know the truth? ------------------------------------------ http://stevecha.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Truth-2.jpg [Image credit](http://stevecha.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Truth-2.jpg) Real truth is independent. Its not based on how many people believe in it, or how many say it is true, or on how many people have the same opinion. Real truth is not based on popularity, nothing and no one can change real truth. Many truths has been found, gravity is quite a hard and painful truth, with first had experience I have discovered it myself. Always remember that just because it has a large group of followers or is printed on paper or even on the internet, doesn't make it true. Conclusion ---------- We will never know everything, because just as the blind men we can't see everything, but if we do find something and work to prove to ourselves it is true. We will never have any doubt if we prove it to ourselves and have worked to find out if it is really true. Nothing in life ever comes freely (if it does there is hardly any value in it) if we really want something really valuable in our lives we must work for it.
