According to a story [put together by Coindesk](https://www.coindesk.com/sec-publishes-cboe-etf-filing-for-public-comment/) SEC has filled a number of requests for comments related to some rules that apply to Bitcoin based trading funds. In other words, SEC is asking if there is enough support, or regulatory framework, to support the launch of a ETF (Exchange-Traded Fund) based on Bitcoin. This move comes in the footsteps of the latest Bitcoin futures product launched by Chicago Board Options Exchange and Chicago Mercantile Exchange in December last year. Requests to launch Bitcoin based ETF were constantly rejected by SEC so far. If there will be enough support and a Bitcoin ETH will be launched, it will be the first of its kind. My personal opinion on Wall-Street-based products making their ways into crypto is rather cautious. Although the general sentiment towards the recent launch of Bitcoin futures was rather positive, very few of the optimists seemed to understand that these futures are now making possible betting against Bitcoin (or shorting it) in a more consistent way. While there's nothing wrong with wanting to bet against anything, Bitcoin included, when there's too much betting, shorting or hedging, things are starting to go down. *** _I'm a serial entrepreneur, blogger and ultrarunner.
