The picture above was taken on a street in Bucharest. It's an art project, believe it or not. It's part of a bigger project in which various artists are using street outlets (belonging to actual stores) to display their work.

In the beginning I was just intrigued by the all too familiar sign on top. I grew up with that sign. I have a visceral reaction every time I see it. A deep, almost irrepressible desire to puke, followed by a profound sadness and the impulse to just run. That's how I learned to live in communism.

But then something felt off. Like really off.

The background color. Blue. And the sign below it. A ring of stars.

And then it hit me.

It's all backwards today.

What it's supposed to give us freedom and power, the EU, is perceived as being oppressive and communist.

And what almost killed us, communism, is modernized, translated into neo-marxist words and concepts and served as the new way towards liberation.

_Disclaimer: this is not about politics. It's merely about how life turns around, and around, and around, and we keep visiting and revisiting the same places and ideas, disguised in different shapes._
